So far I can see it only as a distraction. I really don't need to hear that someone is off to the post office or my cat is in my lap. I can get sucked in and for what reason? I will read the articles tonight hopefully and be clearer.

Twitter / Pownce Names?
Sorry if this has been brought up before (search forums!?), but if you have a twitter or pownce name, reply here so we can get some hyper-blogging / group-consciousness going on between bizniks.
To add me: My Twitter name is leifhansen My Pownce name is SparkGuy (though I haven't really used it much yet...still waiting to see how things pan out.)

Hi All. I just took the plunge yesterday and I'm officially a Twitter-er.
Or, a Twit.
Not sure which.

Ok, I saw my website get hit from Twitter, and that was the encouragement I needed. You can follow my Thought of the Day (kinda like Jack Handy, with more ponderance and less guffawing) with my Twitter name, rachelwhalley.

Thanks, Kaya! I enjoy writing my blog. And was just encouraged by the very generous Brandi Pierce to add a different header to match my branding. If anyone else is interested in the new look, check out Fog to Fire.

Thanks for your prompt. I wrote something on your blog. It got a bit scrambled and there is no way to edit it! I have seen a proof read option on some blog sites so I need ot check on that as I don't have that either!

Huh, I didn't see the scrambled bit. Yes, my blog template doesn't seem to have any edit function. If it feels important, you can resubmit your comment and I can delete the original.
I responded, too. :)

Hi Rachel,
If you're using a WordPress theme for your blog, you can install the WP Ajax Edit Comments plugin which allows users to edit their comments inline.

BTW - if you like quirky twitter apps, check out bkkeepr. It's a twitter bookmark, tracking down the books you read, marking your place and so on. Really cool!

On the note of Microblogs, I've added a Biznik Friendfeed account (I think microblogs like FF which also catch all your other feeds are the way to go). You can see it here http://www.friendfeed.com/biznik or in the sidebar of the biznik blog. (My personal friendfeed account is "SparkGuy")

Here is mine twitter.com/mayhemstudios
When I first joined Twitter. I didn't really think much about it. As I followed more people, I built up my network and it's fun.
You get what you put into it. Without even trying that hard. As a result, I contributed to an article, got interviewed for another article and had potential client contact me.
Plus, quick feedback on questions and great inspiration. Twitter is a good marketing tool but may not be for everyone.

Note that if you use Twitter to promote yourself and your business, it's a good idea to use your actual name in your Twitter profile. And be sure to include a link to your website or blog - or to your Biznik profile.
If you live in or near Seattle, check out the Twitter seminar offered by Wayne Bishop and me. We will be offering this again in the near future.

Judy, how do you and Bob share a twitter name? Do you just stay logged in and take turns at the computer or phone?
I'm WiseWillow. I signed up a couple months ago but haven't done much. Technically, I follow Peter Shankman of HARO, but no one else. http://www.shankman.com.
It's off topic but,
HARO's a source list, so if you want to be a source in your niche for a reporter or journalist sign up for his daily list and have fun!
So, now that I know you are all out there, I guess I'll be twittering more regularly.
Cheers!

Suzanne,
Ah, the dangers of the long threads. I messed up and went back on page two to correct myself.
My twitter name is:
solomarketer
I don't think names can be shared because everyone has a different account?
This forum is unmoderated, but please keep discussion courteous and not too far off topic.
