Subscribe to Community-wide general discussion Twitter / Pownce Names?

Sorry if this has been brought up before (search forums!?), but if you have a twitter or pownce name, reply here so we can get some hyper-blogging / group-consciousness going on between bizniks.

To add me: My Twitter name is leifhansen My Pownce name is SparkGuy (though I haven't really used it much yet...still waiting to see how things pan out.)

I'm on Twitter here. I doubt that I'm using my Twitter profile to it's best advantage. Maybe someone would want to host a Twitter workshop (Leif?...Joe?...hint...hint.).

I just signed up- "Mikelann"-- big suprise, is my name. It helps to have a weird name I guess. But I haven't figured it out yet. I don't even know how to follow people or tell them I am "tweeting". I was thinking of putting out a "tweet" once a day- a single short tip for earning your worth. Does that make sense for something like twitter?

    Hi Mikelann,

That would work well for Twitter. Check out Rachel Whalley's example.

Yes, I tweet with simply my Thought of the Day (or "TOTD" to keep inside Twitter's character limit). And occasionally I post about something if it's newsworthy.

Like my new office or my video interview with Laura Cruikshank of WWISH.

People seem to like the simple tweets I put out...

If you want to use Twitter as a traffic builder, sending information out is not sufficient...It doesn't work in the same way a blog or website works. It is an interactive medium...if you only send tweets out, influencers are not likely to follow you. It is important to comment and reach out to people.

I have a couple of posts about twitter on my website, http://www.edgyentrepreneur.com

Thanks for that insight Jean. Being still fairly new to Twitter, I noticed that there are a lot of single posts without little or no interaction.

And the aspect I like of it is the opportunity to comment/reply to another tweet!

But at the same time I do find useful resources/links here and there, and from a marketing standpoint, it's a great venue for "getting the word out".

I completely agree...I try to break up my posts between the two...I love to see what other people are finding on the net...and now that we have TwitWall, we can expand the conversation in another location...

Twitter has proven to be a useful way to share DIY publicity tips and resources with my followers and invite new opportunities to be of service.

@NancyJuetten is where you can find me there.

Some great joint ventures have taken shape for me as a result of posting on Twitter, and my Twitter profile has contributed to me working on a dream project for an HGTV designer.

Give Twitter a try, and make a commitment to be of service to others.

Since I started on 1/25/09, this has definitely worked for me. And, don't fret about how many followers you have. Quality over quantity is a beautiful thing.

Quality AND quantity is even better.
