You probably have open Action Items.

Action Items are things like Requests to Join Network, Compliments, etc. Those are also located in the email section of Biznik.

Go to your email, and up above the first message you will see links to Action Items, Inbox, and Outbox.

    Click the Action Items link.

There will be a list of things there you need to take action on. When you open one of them, there will be buttons at the bottom... "Accept", "Decline", etc. Take one of the actions, and that item will disappear from the list.

Let me know if you have any other questions about Action Items.

I got it to to quit. It was a email that had the round dot next to it. I had opened it before but it had not flagged it as read. It's fixed now. Thanks.

OK: two of em...persistent ones that have not been fixed yet:

    1. I have been inviting people to my group who do not have a groups function. I've posted the link to my group like this: http://biznik.com/groups/turquoise-tribe. But alas, it brings them to a "sorry we can't find that page". And when they try to search for Turquoise Tribe on the general page, they of course cannot find it that way either, since they do not have a Groups function yet.

So I've had them try to cut and paste the link I send...hopefully that works, but it is a bug nonetheless.

    1. I am very frustrated with my sending messages to either folks in my network or group, as well as posting in a discussion...The little "wheel" icon turns as if something is processing, but I never know if the post is posted or the message is sent, because the message box and the post box still shows up , as if nothing has happened. This has been going on for quite some time (weeks). What I end up doing is copying the post just in case, and then pressing the refresh button on my Mozilla Firefox to see if it actually got sent or posted. Bu the yesterday, nothing happened to a message I sent to all my group people, and I lost a long letter to them, and had to re-write.

    kind of big bugs....sorry.

I 'll press the post comment button now to see what happens....

nothing happened as usual...just the wheel turning, and then nothing.

I press the refresh button and presto! the comment is there. As I posted earlier, could this be why I see so many double posts and messages?

    thank you!

Groups: The Groups feature is available to everyone now. All users have full access to Groups.

Have them look in the green menu bar at the top of any page on Biznik, and they should see "Groups". And the link you are giving them - http://biznik.com/groups/turquoise-tribe - should work for anyone regardless of whether they are even signed up for Biznik or not.

If they are having troubles with the link, it might be a problem with the way the link is formatted, or that their email program blocks HTML links somehow.

Interminable Spinner: I was not aware that you were still having problems with the "process indicator" (the spinny wheel thing), and your browser was not updating... we took care of those problems on our end a while ago.

If the process indicator is not giving you accurate process status, my guess is that either it is an issue with your web browser and system version (what version of Firefox are you using, and what operating system version do you have?), or it could be you have a sketchy internet connection... but that would affect ALL the web sites you visit... not just Biznik.

This is perplexing. Give me some more details, and let's see what we can find... (also would still like to see your computer, next time you are in town).

    Hey folks,

I got a message from a potential event attendee saying that she tried to RSVP for my event (https://biznik.com/groups/enneagram-lovers-and-explorers/events/what-do-they-need-to-hear-a-conversation-on-relating-to-other-enneagram-types-0) but couldn't get signed up.

    Help?

hmmm... the good news is, publishing an article using MS Works instead of Word works! Yay!

however... the bad bug news is I might have posted the article twice: in the Turquoise Tribe version it shows one viewing and 0 comments, and on my page, it shows 3 views and 1 comment...hmmm?

I probably posted it twice because I did not see it post at first...so I opened up another tab, copied everything over, and posted again....did I goof?

    thanks.

    Elke

    all right,

so I noticed, upon examining it later, that I had indeed managed to post my article twice. So I deleted my turquoise group one, and then added groups later. So cool we can do that (post to our groups)!

    best,

    Elke

I cannot find my article under the main page, even though I received the second notice stating my article is published. I can't find it under Professional development either. I can only find it under the groups I published with.

    Que Pasa?

    Hi Rachel,
I need a little more information... were they singing up for Biznik, or for your event when they had the problem?

And what was the problem? Did she see the RSVP button? Did she click on it? What happened? Do you see her as an RSVP? Did she remember to log in to Biznik FIRST?

Gimme a ring, or have her contact me if she is still having problems.

  • Biznik Community Tech Support
Posted by Biznik Community Tech Support, Seattle, Washington | May 11, 2009

@Elke: I see your article listed on your profile, in the Articles section under "New" and in the Articles section under "Professional Development".

Is there somewhere else you expected it to appear?

  • Rev. Elke Siller Macartney
Posted by Rev. Elke Siller Macartney, LaConner, Washington | May 11, 2009

NO, it just did not appear yesterday afternoon when I received the announcement, nor this morning first thing.....but I see it's there now.

Impatient? yea, a little , but from now on, when I receive a notice that it is published to the main articles page, about how much later may I tell people to look for the article?

  • Biznik Community Tech Support
Posted by Biznik Community Tech Support, Seattle, Washington | May 11, 2009

Articles are published exactly when they say they were published... unless there is a technical problem with the web site.

    Which there was. (sheepish grin)

So, in the future, if you want to be safe, go to the Articles section of the web site and search for your article. Once it appears there, then everyone can see it.

    okey dokey...thanks!

Looking forward to circus contraption, and our "open laptop" meeting in the near future...the 21st...

blessings to the entire biznik gang!

Christian, other people are able to pay and sign up, but not this gal. She is signed in, obviously, cause she's messaging me to say it's not working.

My event is a paid one, which I think is somehow contributing to the issue. So there's more steps than simply clicking on RSVP.

I'm going to ask her to contact you directly, because I can tell that this is becoming an obstacle to her coming to my event. :(

    Okay, this isn't a bug per se. It's more a wouldn't-it-be-cool-if.

Wouldn't it be cool if when I use the "add to calendar" feature, it could discern and note on my calendar whether I'd r.s.v.p.'d or not.

Sometimes I put events on my calendar for purely looking ahead purposes, but I haven't yet committed to attend. And sometimes I have already r.s.v.p.'d that I'll be there. ... See what I'm saying?

I seem to be having an issue signing in to the site on some computers. It seems to be mostly computers with older versions of Internet Explorer but that might just be a coincidence. Some times when I type in my name and password and click the sign in button, the browser will freeze up. And even restarting it, and/or the computer doesn't work. In fact, I'm no longer able to load the site, even in Firefox, unless I reset my router and cable modem. I can still get to other web sites with no problem, but when I try to load Biznik it will search for it for a while, and then eventually go to a Google search result. That search result will list Biznik, but then if I click on it, it does the same thing...

Is this likely a problem on my end? I don't have the option of upgrading IE on my work computer because our company IT policy doesn't allow it...

Posted by Biznik Community Tech Support, Seattle, Washington | May 13, 2009

@Leila: I like your thinking here. I have logged your request, and when we get to working on the calendar options, I'll bring this one up.

@Chris: Older web browsers might have problems with some of the "common" tools and techniques that Web 2.0 websites are using today. JavaScript has gone through some changes recently, Ajax controls are common now, and there are other back-end technologies that older browsers just can't cope with.

Generally speaking, Internet Explorer just has problems. IE 6 is almost a total failure on modern web sites, and IE 8 is so buggy that even simple things don't work.

In both these cases, Firefox or Google Chrome both work flawlessly.

And, of course, anyone on a Mac should be fine with any browser they choose to use, really.

    Thanks for considering it, Christian.

One more, not really a bug but just an evolutionary thing. Could y'all add the category "Groups" to the overarching search results set-up?

And when I search within the section "Groups" the setup is labeled "Groups by Activity" but will search results return for anything posted or discussed within a group?

  • Leila Anasazi
Posted by Leila Anasazi, St. Louis & Seattle, Washington | May 14, 2009

Well, I just answered that last question (Answer=No), and now request that Group activity, conversations, etc. become part of the bigger search results. (Wish I could phrase that better.)

    I hear ya Leila.

You want to be able to search for useful content within the Groups section of the site as well.

Seems a reasonable request to me... there are one or two technological sticky bits (making sure you can't search the contents of Private groups, for example), but overall, this seems like a good idea.

This forum is unmoderated, but please keep discussion courteous and not too far off topic.
