As a fellow Celebrant, I certainly value the potential scope of what Biznik can mean for our "yet to be nationally known" growing industry. Not enough of the general public is aware of the new option they have when celebrating the loss of a loved one. I applaud Pam for her ongoing endeavor to bring this to national attention. Thanks! Expanding Exposure of Niche Concept on National Level
Raising an awareness of a niche concept through membership in a group and business networking. Example: a group of 1,200 Celebrants are working together to take their business to national exposure as they help families and friends remember loved ones.
It is not easy to take a niche concept national but when you work with a larger group, members can brainstorm and work together to raise awareness.
For example, the title of "Celebrant" is often new in a community, unless a family has chosen a Celebrant as an officiant for a funeral service.
National exposure is exactly what 1,200 Celebrants are working toward as they attempt to build exposure online and in their local communities through print, radio and TV.
As your own niche concept grows, you can use some of these ideas by working together with others in similar businesses.
1) Presenting the problem and the answer to the media for coverage locally first and then, nationally:
Example: What happens when a business friend passes away?
You attend the funeral out of a sense of respect and understanding. You arrive at the funeral only to hear a tired example of the same old generic readings at the funeral service, as the name of the decedent is inserted into a script. You have no emotional reaction whatsoever, only walking through the paces of generic service.
The answer: Personalized Celebrant services with storytelling and favorite music.
2) Article writing by all members of the national or international group.
Example: With many online websites offering the opportunity to write articles, why not take your message national? Every member of the group should write at least one article a month.
In this reference, that's 1,200 articles being posted on a variety of local and national article websites that reach far beyond a single community for exposure.
3) Create a network for members to brainstorm online for exposure that reaches the public directly.
Example: For those who earn the title of Celebrant through training, an online network has been created for access by 1,200 members to brainstorm together to take the niche concept to the next level. One member could break through and reach nationally, while taking the entire group along for the ride.
4) Exposing the public to the niche concept is key through online websites.
Example: If all of the members of a group create websites sharing information about the niche concept, it will create a higher level of information being disseminated online. All members should work together to profile their offerings while detailing their individual approaches on individual websites. Add links to each other's websites, promoting and sharing about others in your field.
5) City-to-city network referrals.
Example: There are incredible advantages to working within a group. If referrals need to be made across the nation, asking for a specific service such as Celebrant then you can refer someone else within your group or they can refer you to a family in need. The same rings true for any niche concept that you share with others on a national level.
There are huge advantages to belonging to a group for cross-promotional efforts to take a niche concept to the next level. With thousands of members located in different cities, the word will spread taking awareness to the next level. Everything is possible!

So true, Pam. Contacts all over the country is what makes my business more valuable. It's nice to have others I can refer business to when my work is so niche oriented. Thanks for being my LA connection.

Yes! And Biznik is wonderful for this purpose! Glad to have you two on board here. Happily, Biznik's hometown is Seattle, so I get to network face-to-face with some pretty amazing folks. Thanks to Dan and Lara for birthing this wonderful networking opportunity. We truly have a terrific venue here for spreading the word about our Celebrant work!
