  <body>&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;D&lt;/b&gt;o you think focused, successful people just wake up that way?&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;No. They're not born that way either. Well, they may be born with the &amp;quot;marketing gene&amp;quot; or the &amp;quot;dynamic salesperson gene&amp;quot;, but they don't get or stay focused simply by existing.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;So, don't think of staying focused as something you'll do when you get to a higher level of business success. And don't think it'll happen when you wave the magic wand of someone else's strategies over your head.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Your focus will begin with a &lt;b&gt;few easy steps&lt;/b&gt;. They're so easy it seems it couldn't work. But to make the steps truly work you have to make them part of your everyday life. And it's easy because it's what you should be doing even if you don't own or don't even want to own a business.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Step 1.&lt;/b&gt; Get up in the morning, and before you even get dressed or have breakfast or anything else...&lt;b&gt;t&lt;/b&gt;&lt;b&gt;ake a moment&lt;/b&gt; to realize how fortunate you are to have another day to conquer.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Step 2.&lt;/b&gt;&amp;nbsp; Eat a nice sized, sensible &lt;b&gt;breakfast.&lt;/b&gt; Make it the kind your grandparents used to make. Don't quibble over what's &amp;quot;sensible&amp;quot;. You know what it is...even if it's way down inside you. You know.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Step 3.&lt;/b&gt;&amp;nbsp; Be sure and get plenty of &lt;b&gt;water &lt;/b&gt;into your body. It's the best way to oxygenate your blood. And if there's plenty of oxygen in your blood, there's plenty going to your brain. Don't worry about the 8 glasses a day thing. Have water every hour. You don't need a quart, but you do need it consistently. Have a drink right now, in fact.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Step 4.&lt;/b&gt;&amp;nbsp; This one is going to sound silly, but...&lt;b&gt;smile.&lt;/b&gt; You'll be surprised what smiling more will do for you. It may even rub off on others, but right now we're focusing on you. (hey there's that focus thing again) Remember you use more muscles in your face when you smile. And when you use more muscles, you burn more calories, and when you burn more calories, you stay leaner, and when you stay leaner you like yourself better, and when you like yourself better, you stay more focused, and when you're more focused, you smile more.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Whew....&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Step 5.&lt;/b&gt;&amp;nbsp; Don't attempt to stay busy. &lt;b&gt;Take action.&lt;/b&gt; There's a huge difference. You could clean off your desk all day and never sign that big client, but you'd look busy.&amp;nbsp; Or you could take at least one small (or big) action to actually get the client...and even have a messy desk doing it.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Step 6.&lt;/b&gt;&amp;nbsp; Enjoy the moment. Remember &lt;b&gt;you only have NOW.&lt;/b&gt; Yesterday's gone forever, and tomorrow never actually gets here. NOW is all you really have. So enjoy it. Make the most of it. And get something done, NOW. It stands for &amp;quot;no other way&amp;quot;.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Step 7.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/b&gt; Get plenty of &lt;b&gt;rest.&lt;/b&gt; Your body and your mind must recuperate from the day. No matter who you are; when you don't get enough rest, it Will catch up with you. Maybe not today. Maybe not even tomorrow. But at some point your focus just won't be there when you need it because your body will not respond the way you want.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;OK...there's &lt;b&gt;seven easy steps&lt;/b&gt; to a better, more focused YOU. They don't require years of schooling, mentoring, or yelling in your face frm a drill sargeant. Just get up and do 'em everyday.
