<p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span>Wow, it&rsquo;s amazing how quickly the world of social communities changes. It seemed like yesterday I was logging in regularly to MySpace to add friends, post blogs, find prospects, and delete porn star friend requests&hellip;wait &ndash; yes I said it!&nbsp;<span>&nbsp;</span>It&rsquo;s probably the ONLY time you will find the word PORN in my blog but tis&rsquo; the case.</span></p> <p><span>When MySpace hit it seemed like the job of generating leads for business became a little easier, this MySpace thing was cool and I was actually doing business with people I found online. I&rsquo;m sure there&rsquo;s still some gold in them there hills but the hike is a huge pain in the neck and other parts of the anatomy I will not mention.</span></p> <p><span>I started getting the picture that MySpace was more than a viral opportunity; it was becoming a nasty infection. I can&rsquo;t tell you how many friend requests I received from &ldquo;bambi&rdquo; funny thing is she had a different photo every time.&nbsp;<span>&nbsp;</span>Oh, and I loved receiving the annoying ads that would blow up my comments page. I really started to question who my true friends were and that took my mind off business.</span></p> <p><span>So I moved out of MySpace and didn&rsquo;t tell the landlord. My page is still up and it still receives updates but I dare not re-enter this dilapidated marketing machine. I decided to vacate the premises when I noticed that most of my business messages were becoming less effective, not responded to as much. It seems as a whole, the business members of MySpace had just as much skepticism as I did about any message crossing their page.<span>&nbsp;</span>&nbsp;I will leave this site to the kids, the musicians, the artists, the porn stars, and the get rich quick, get paid for surveys, work from home and become a millionaire types.</span></p> <p><span>Today, I spend a lot more time on more efficient sites. Twitter can be a great site if utilized properly, Facebook is awesome for business, LinkedIn is another one on the top of my lists. I have also been invested in smaller niche sites and communities and I would strongly urge more business owners to do the same. &nbsp;Put down roots in your virtual community &ndash; the more people you have talking about you the better. My suggestion to social network and community users is to really evaluate the benefits of the communities you chose to be involved in and tailor your message to be effective.&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span>I would love to hear back from the community about their interaction on MySpace. Please, if you have ever had a friend request from Bambi or any similar please post so I can have a good laugh.&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span>P.S. I am new to Biznik but would have to say that it is becoming one of the community sites that I really enjoy using.
