In 1969 Frank Sinatra produced one of his greatest songs, My Way. I love the spirit of this song because is shows the worth
of following your heart and also the cost. Doing things 'my way' hasn't always been easy, in fact usually quite the opposite
and still there is much satisfaction in doing my business, my way.

I have been an Indie for over 23 years and have owned
several different businesses. It became apparent at a fairly early age that I was a better Indie than employee. I am creative, I like to implement my ideas, I can play on a team but resist moving as fast as the slowest member. I like setting my own schedule, working with people I like, working less or more to either have more time or money, taking a vacation when I want and most of all doing it MY WAY.

I've been called rebellious but I think of myself as an individual who just doesn't want to be labeled, controlled, or indoctrinated. Over the years I haven't mellowed but I have matured. If you've read this far I am guessing that I am in good company and you can relate.

My point of writing is to express how that mellowing has effected my willingness to be kinder to myself when it comes to what I used to call mistakes( when my way turned out to look like the wrong way). I used to spend so much energy on avoiding mistakes and second guessing myself that in retrospect I see that it robbed me of some momentum and motivation. I guess I could say I was trying to be successful but I wonder now looking back, knowing what I know if I wasn't just protecting my ego. I didn't want to 'look' bad I didn't want to be a failure so there were some risks that could have paid high dividends that I didn't take.

I did fine, my businesses did well and there was always this glass ceiling that kept me in a certain income bracket that I couldn't seem to break out of. My point here is it cost me to play small at times in exchange for the illusion of safety, the safety of not making a mistake.

NOW

Lately, in the past 10 years or so I've been breaking all my records about playing safe to the point of questioning my sanity at times. I've amazed myself at what is possible when I trust myself and go with that 'intuitive right'.

A long distance move away from my almost grown children, finishing college, begining and ending a ministry, writing a book, leaving a very established profitable business for starting over almost from scratch at 50. The results are in! I know that when things don't turn out the way I expected that my disappointment or my temptation to call what shows up a mistake is about me thinking I knew what would happen. Actually letting go of some of the control, mind you I haven't let go of all of it YET, has brought more goodness into my life and I'm happy to say that the glass ceiling to my success is no longer there. I not only believe that anything is possible now I KNOW it

           *******************************************

If you can relate to this article I would really like to hear from you. I am planning a workshop in the near future called. . . get ready....

Turning your Faults into Fertilizer! It is my experience that any real growth I have experienced has come from being willing to look at myself warts and all and begin to appreciate all of what I've done and not just focus on what looks nice. I hope you'll come and be a part of this workshop because I will also be giving the gift of the Next Step process so you will have a 'leg up' on Your Way.

The date has been set for this workshop! Check your calendar and join us if you can.

Thursday July 7th from noon til 2pm at the Mosaic Coffee House in Wallingford. Here is the link:

http://biznik.com/events/-turning-faults-into-fertilizer-

This will be the first in a series of 4 Workshops that will address the process of becoming artfully at ease with your success in your business.
