I am so tired of people saying that "you are your results". How does that sound? I AM my results! Do these people know that the words I AM are the most powerful two words you can say to yourself? Not everyone's results are very positive. So what are these people saying to themselves every day? I AM a failure, I AM not worthy, I AM always late, I AM tired. What if these were your results every day? How tough do you think it would be to get motivated?

There was a study a few years back that showed that 80% of a human beings belief system is hardwired into their brain by the time they’re 8 years old. Many of the beliefs we have of ourselves are from our family and friends. Maybe our parents telling us we can’t afford things or your big brother or sister telling you that you don’t matter or you’re not smart enough. I love my brother very much, but when I look back at the things he would say to me when I was a little kid it makes me want to give him a good old fashioned beating. So the way we dress, how we view the world, the cars we drive, the relationships we’re in and the amount of money we make is all based on this belief system.

This study also showed that another 15% of your belief system is in place by the time you’re 18 years old. Do you remember what you did and who you were listening to between the ages of 8 and 18? That makes 95% of who you think you are is programmed into your brain by the time you’re 18 years old. I don’t know about you but I had few people I hung out with in those Junior High and High School years that I would not follow today. These are the same people that some of my belief systems are programmed around, YIKES! This much I do know. My beliefs affect my emotions, my emotions affect my behavior and my behavior creates my results. Now, in knowing this, do you actually believe that it’s fair to you that you are your results?

I would like to propose a different way of looking at it. How about your results are only a PART of who you are! That's right, just a part of who I am. I am also a father, a husband, an uncle, a son, a golfer and on and on. Just because everything in my life might not be a huge success that day doesn't exactly mean that I AM that result. I am still an honest, deserving, loving, spiritual man today and everyday no matter what my results end up being at the end of that day.

I look forward to each and every day and just because I'm not getting the results that I strive for everyday absolutely does not mean that's only who I am.

Here’s one that works for me: Results, Often harsh and Always fair? Now I can live with that!

Have an awesome day…
