Event description

Do you start shaking at the thought of introducing yourself in front of a crowd? Are your presentations effective and exciting? Do you know your weak and strong points in presenting? Do you want or need to practice your presentation, but you don't know where to go?

Whether your audience is one person or ten, effective presentations can help you to consistently win business. With the idea that practice makes perfect, or at least pretty good, we'll listen to each other and provide constructive criticism to help improve our presentation skills. If you are unsure about your content, this may be a great time to bounce it off others for some good feedback.

Be prepared to stand and deliver your 8-10 minute presentation. After all of the presentations, we will discuss each other's strong and weak points in an open, friendly, constructive manner.

The Roasting Room is a closed door room at the back of the Vivace cafe, so you don't have to be afraid of anyone hearing you in the cafe. Plus, they'll all be too busy getting hopped up on some great coffee.

Wow, this is cool Kelly. The opportunity to get feedback from Bizniks is sweet. Now I just gotta figure out what's the most gutsy thing I can go for, and give it a whirl. Thanks for doing this.

    Joe,

I had no idea that you would want to do this. Thank you for the support! Even while submitting the event, I felt my shoulders tighten up and the precursor to shaking was in process.

Today, I did not shake at all during my 60 seconds in front of the group I meet with. It seems fairly obvious that I can be comfortable in a group of people I know, but new situations spook me a bit. That is exactly why I wanted to put this event on -- to work on being more comfortable, and to become more aware of my surroundings while speaking in front of a group of cool people.

Kind of ironic that you are hosting it in the "roasting room." :)

    Great idea for an event!

I am all good for being hopped up on coffee...

If I can flex my schedule I'll swing on by. I've given way too many presentations and I'd love to offer some ideas to help get people from being gun shy.

I broke my crowd fright by doing a wee bit of stand up comedy when I was younger. Once you learn to make a fool of yourself on purpose, doing it on accident doesn't seem nearly as bad. ;)

Gah! I had to cancel because my truck was stolen today and I have no idea when I will have transportation again. If the event goes well, I hope you have it again so I can drop by.

I love their coffee, although I only have mine in the morning but I’ll come in and have a hot chocolate while enjoying this great opportunity to get some honest feed back to better my skills.
