Event description

Hi! My name is Sierra and I host this "second to last Monday of every month Happy Hour" that happens at the Spitfire in Bell-town that I lovingly call The Alt-Crew. We like to network, have a good time and explore the many ways that people break from the norm and live inspiring, edgy and unconventional lifestyles.

I'm into the different freaky ways that people live. One type of cutting-edge lifestyle is caring for the environment to the extreme. They call it sustainability. Taking a look at all aspects of business and life that will reduce the bad effects on the planet is the theme for this month. I have only recently started to have this conversation and I want more of it! Come on down and strut your stuff with vast knowledge and experience or come with your empty head and fill up on new learnings, good networking and a good drink.

Promoting sustainable businesses and enterprises is what my career is all about -- thanks for hosting this! I don't think living green is so extreme anymore -- it's becoming a lot more mainstream these days. We're seeing a sea change in public attitudes in this topic.

Learning, and living, a sustainable lifestyle is very interesting to me too. On Sept 29th and 30th Sustainable Ballard is hosting their annual Sustainability Fair in - you guessed it - downtown Ballard. Thought y'all might like to know.

I love sustainable ballard as an organization, btw. Just thought I would say that.

They are a rare bread of folks, imo. They have a very down to earth and non-devisive approach, which I find the most effective in not-for-profit orgs.

I'm very excited that Green Festival is coming to Seattle next April. This is a pretty huge event that started in San Francisco; they also have done Green Festivals in Chicago and Washington, DC. It'll be a weekend full of terrific speakers (150 of them on 5 stages) and exhibits (300). http://www.greenfestivals.org/

Also, Green October is coming up next month. Lots of local events. http://www.greenoctober2007.com/

Green Festival is going to rock. Biznik is going to be involved, definitely with a booth presence and possibly more.
