Portland Indie Business Night

Join Portland's indie business community for an inspired evening of networking in the Pearl District - (venue to be announced).

Hosted by Biznik co-founders Lara Feltin and Dan McComb who'll be in town from Seattle for the Shop 08 event earlier that day. But most importantly, we'd like to meet YOU!

Whether you attended the Shop 08 "Conference for Independents" or not - and whether you're a member of Biznik yet or not - this event should be a great introduction to the PDX Biznik community which is now almost 200 people strong.

If the crowd is anything like Dan and I, it'll be friendly and casual. Stop by anytime to meet us and Portland "indies" who are looking for other like-minded folks to support in growing your businesses.

  OK, thanks to David Billings, we have a venue: Blitz Bar. The deciding factor: it's "Microbrew Monday" and microbrews are $2 all day. That's almost worth driving down from Seattle for all by itself!

  Thats right by Powells on Couch and 10th. I don't drink- ok ,I know I'm weird but I will still be there unless it is smoky. I am eagerly waiting until the end of the year when the no smoking law goes into effect. cough

  Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on the perspective) I will be sitting in chaise lounge, by the pool, on the patio of a beach house in St Croix sipping "fufee" rum drinks that evening. I'm sorry I'll miss meeting you all this go-around....

  We'll be there at 6pm.

  I'm surprised that it's still legal to smoke in public bars in Portland - I thought Seattle was the last bastion of public smoking in the Northwest, and we banned it a couple years ago. Anyway, don't worry Kaya - drinking is not a requirement at Biznik events. We've found, though, that a bar setting creates a nice vibe for networking.

  What a fun evening. It was great to finally meet Lara and Dan and also connect with a few other local people who I met for the first time, as well as people I already knew but don't see too often. Often I find that meeting in bars to be a bit challenging but this worked out ok. Thanks for organizing this and I look forward to the next one! Kaya

  Dan and Lara, thanks for hosting last night. It was great to meet you both and it was fun to learn more about the history of biznik.

  We had a good turnout and I hope to have more PDX events. After staring at an LCD all day it's a welcome change to interact with real, live people.
