Protecting Your Business --- An Interactive Workshop

Small business owners and entrepreneurs are faced with a number of issues related to their business. We will be discussing how having the proper insurance coverage and legal entity can provide a business owner with the comfort and protection they need so that they can continue doing what really matters to them...running their business.

We'll start with 15 minutes of networking and talking about what specifice issues brought you to the workshop. Then, David and I will provide an overview of legal entities and business insurance tailored to be useful to attendees.

Legal Issues to be addressed include:

• Why should I select an entity for my business?
• What entity is right for my business?
• What steps do I need to go through to properly register my business with the state, local, and federal government?

Insurance questions to be addressed include:

• What kind of insurance is usual in my business area?
• How does the insurance industry work?
• What questions should I ask an insurance agent?
• Should my car be insured as part of my business?
• Do I need professional liability?
• Your own questions about protecting your business

Please note, because of the great diversity within business insurance, when you RSVP please indicate if you are interested in learning about insurance considerations for a business area not in your profile.

We will encourage questions and discussion and hope that this workshop provides both participants and facilitators with the opportunity to learn from one another. We'll conclude with a further opportunity for networking and questions.

  I have been considering forming an LLC vs. my current sole proprietorship and just need to be pointed in the right direction. I also have questions about which types of insurance best suit my business.
