I look forward to finally meeting you, Terra. We've communicated enough online; it's time to put a face to a name. See you soon.
2.4 mile Seward Park Loop Walk and Talk
Hosted by John Hays in Seattle, Washington
Type: Walk & Talk
When: Friday, April 17 8:30 AM
Fee: Free
673 views
Event description
This is an opportunity to get some exercise in one of Seattle's premier parks, while engaging in small group conversations about whatever is on your mind. I expect that the setting will have an an impact on your conversation(s) equal to the exercise you'll be getting.
Aside from the technology you use to get to the park, this is a no-tech event. The only sounds heard should be the sounds of our conversations overlaying the sounds of the birds, the wind in the trees and maybe the raindrops. Be sure to dress for the weather; we walk whatever the weather gods give us.
Please note: CHILDREN AND PETS ON LEASH ARE WELCOME! For the sake of the Biznik event, they just need to be able to keep up.
Meet at the park headquarters (Environmental Ed Center on the map) on the park entry loop road. Park in one of the two parking lots to your right as you enter the park (See the park map found at the second link below).
We'll take long enough to introduce ourselves before we walk. We'll depart the meeting point at 8:45 sharp. We'll do the loop clockwise this time; so, if you're late you know which way to go to catch up. Find info on the park and a park map (pdf) at the sites below.
Directions to the park and general information http://www.seattle.gov/Parks/environment/seward.htm
A map of the park. You will find the meeting place and the parking lots here. Click on the map so you download a map in pdf format. You will have to use the zoom feature of your pdf viewer to blow this thing up big enough for it to be useful. http://www.seattle.gov/parks/trails_detail.asp?id=428

Hi John,
Is this a dog friendly event? If so, I'd love to post it on "Dog Lovers Unite" group!

Steve,
It is. Please post it on "Dog Lovers Unite". I'm a dog lover for sure. I don't have one now; but, I've owned a cocker spaniel and a golden lab.

Welcome to the group, Megan. Your profession of postpartum doula is an incredible service. I look forward to meeting you.
It also brings a thought to mind. Seward Park is very friendly to children. The loop walk we'll be doing is suitable for kids carried, on foot or on wheels. For the purposes of this Biznik activity, they need to be able to keep up; but, they are welcome. Bring 'em if you've got 'em.

Amity,
It's been a while since we last talked; and, on that occasion, we sat and talked instead of Walked and Talked. It will be a pleasure seeing you again.

John,
I saw above you mentioned children are welcome, so if it is ok I am going to bring my daughter. She will be in her stroller, so if I can keep up, so will she! Is that ok?
Thank you for the event!

Great. If you haven't been to Seward Park before, I think you'll find that it's a fabulous place for kids and their families. They are in the process of some major upgrades that will make it even better.
See you soon.

When's the next one? Sorry I couldn't make it yesterday, but would love to jump in again.. and my dog Trouble agrees.. I'm sure it was a blast. That's a good walk and a perfect amount of time to get into substantive conversations. The walk-and-talks continue!

The next one will be on Thursday, April 30th at 7 am. I'm trying to give those who work regular office hours a chance to get an energizing walk in before their workday starts.
Children and leashed pets are always welcome.
I'll sponsor one every couple of weeks. Some will be along the lake shore between Seward Park and Mt. Baker Beach.
See you soon.
