When discussing estate planning with small business owners, it is important to have a working understanding of both basic terms as well the many strategies and techniques available to ensure that the business owner is adequately protected.
This seminar will begin with a introduction in the basics of Estate Planning including the importance of a Power-Of-Attorney, the difference between a Will and a Trust, and the "default" estate plan....or not planning at all and the negative consequence that could have to the small business owner.
We will then discuss more complex issues including:
-The Federal Estate and Gift Tax
-Washington Estate Tax
-Planning Beyond the Basics for the Business Owner
In addition to the workshop there will be a Biznik only networking session from 5-5:30pm and the workshop will then start at approximately 5:30pm.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like me to discuss certain estate planning related issues, particularly those impacting business owners.
While this seminar is designed for financial professionals, others interested in the topic are encouraged and invited to attend.

David...it's possible I may have to bow out of this event, as I'll be leaving for Idaho at the end of the month but don't know specifically on what day. I'll bow out to create an opening when I my departure plans are clearer...but either way I'm looking for a little ABC's 101 on this subject matter.
Hey David, thanks for the heads up about this event.
I'd like to learn more about Revokable Living Trusts myself. I know a bit but would like to learn more.
Also want to learn things we should know as business owners that could affect our partners when we die. What do we have to have in place, specifically for our businesses, to prevent a financial mess that our partners have to clean up?
Thanks and looking forward to it! Karrie
Karrie,
Thanks for your questions. I will be sure to discuss Revocable Living Trusts (RLTs) and how they are often used in estate planning. I will also touch on some steps that can be taken by business owners to integrate their business as part of their over all estate plan.
Thanks again for the questions...keep them coming!
Best, David
Hi David,
I was looking forward to attending this event.
I just found out that I will be tied up with work and won't be able to make it.
I am sorry about the last minute cancellation.
Have a great event, Allen
Please have this event again. I am unable to attend this one but this is a subject I would like more info on. Thanks!
Is there a good place to park there? I hate going down town, but this sounds like an interesting event. I am looking forward to it.
Cassandra-
Thanks for your interest! I will let you know when I host the event again - likely in Redmond sometime in the fall.
Tammy-
Thanks for signing up. The Mosaic Coffeehouse is actually in Wallingford - close to I-5 and parking should not be a problem.
I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

David - Good luck with this event. You do such a good job at these, and everyone that comes will greatly benefit.
David, I'm sorry for pulling out. I just found out I have a faculty meeting to attend tomorrow night. I'll make sure to sign-up for your next event. Thanks.
Jose
David, I have a friend in town and cannot make it tonight. I will catch one of your events in the future. Have a great evening!
Karrie
David, sounds like you've got a winner of a program here! As many say "do it again!"
