NEWS FLASH - Just in ... regarding Dibspace.com event on the 18th - come and register at the event and be entered for a drawing for a free iPod!! Plus extra Dibits will be awarded for: bringing friends, completing a profile sheet, bringing treats, beverages, etc.!! Go the extra mile, get the extra perks!

Well, we're back at it! After a couple of unexpected bumps in the road and conflicting schedules, Tshombe and I are happy to invite everyone to this Barter Club Portland Event.

Founded in Seattle by our fellow Bizniker, Dominic Canterbury, Dibspace is now being offered to the Portland community and we are helping to build the resource here. In July, the Seattle based network group hit $100,000 in trade value ~ so it goes to show it is a viable community which offers its members incredible trading power.

Perhaps you are asking yourself, what exactly is Dibspace?

It is a network of local businesses trading goods and services using a community currency instead of cash. Dibspace....puts idle resources to work, recession-proofs your business, helps grow your business while saving cash, gives you access to a large pool of potential clients and costs nothing: It's simple, easy and completely free!

What's more? Sign up your business now and receive a hefty bribe worth $100 (Dibits are awarded to your account upon completing your online profile.) And then post an offer and let the trading begin!

Still not sure? Then come to the Happy Hour and we'll be thrilled to explain more.

Recession be Damned! Through trade, indie businesses can thrive.

This happy hour will be all about networking with the intent to barter so come prepared with ideas about what you'd be willing to trade to get yourself working at full capacity; and don't forget your business cards. Networking time is scheduled for before and after the presentation part of the event.

This barter blowout bash will be held at Urban Grind Coffee House and the owner Kevin Crawford graciously agreed to sponsor us. We will provide food and beverages and are also asking for additional sponsors.

Want some serious publicity?

Become an official Happy Hour Sponsor by supplying the party with some tasty vittles or adult beverages.

As a Sponsor you will be lavished with public praise, adoration and gratitude.

-- For food we're looking for simple things. No major productions here. Just light snack food. For you chefs out there, this could be a great chance to show everyone how wonderful you truly are.

-- And for drinks, bring some beer, soda, water or wine.

If you're interested in becoming a sponsor, send me an email and let me know what you'd like to bring.

Current Sponsors include:

Great Video Tshombe. The most interesting statement for me, from your video was "own little economies." This is going to become a very powerful trend over the next Decade, so it is good for all of us to start understanding how these "little economies" form and interact, so that we can better prepare our businesses for a new future. See you at the event.

    Cheers

Hey thanks, Josh, and I totally agree. I'd like to spend some time talking to you about where I think the trend in constructing mini-economies is going.

I've run into a few naysayers, some who have called me too optimistic, but I do think the writing's on the wall. Sounds like you're of a similar mind and I'd love to pick your brain.

    See you Friday.

And now .... for the moment we've all been waiting for ... the winner of the iPod is .... drum roll please!

...Sarah Giffrow of Enko Photography. Congratulations, Sarah!!

We wish to send special thanks to Kevin Crawford, Owner of Urban Grind for sponsoring our event! If you haven't been there yet, you need to head on over. He has one of "THE BEST" meeting places I know of. By the way, there is also an Urban Grind in NW Portland. He has a great menu at nice prices, fine coffees and teas and there are a variety of space options depending on the size of your group. He is a friendly and fascinating guy to know.

Special thanks to DeBorah Beatty (recently transplanted to Oregon from Walla Walla) for introducing ME to Dibspace and for sponsoring our event too by bringing wonderful treats!

And of course, our biggest thanks goes to Dominic Canterbury, Founder of Dibspace for creating such a viable and sustainable community for us to be a part of!

Thanks everyone for this gathering.. Lisa and Tshombe had terrific energy and really held the room's attention describing the benefits of Dibspace.

Met some very cool people, willing to think outside the box and start to realize the advantages of an alternative economy.

    Thanks again, thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Lisa YOU rocked the house! Thank you so much for introducing ME to Dibspace. I truly believe this is another wonderful way for us to support one another by investing in our own mini-economies.

Forrest described it wonderfully when he said (paraphrased) 'What do you have around the house you are not using that you can transform into Dibbits energy to manifest something you do want?'

You are a miracle worker, Lisa, and without you amazing work the event would not have happened. Since I worked with you, I know firsthand that you went FAR beyond the call of duty to make this event successful.

I'm in your debt and truly grateful.

AND thank you to everyone who attended and Congratulations to Sarah for winning the iPod!
