I don't know if I can make it to this event but I've bartered for over $5000 worth of services with my jewelry over the last 3 years. I've had mostly good experiences but there were a couple I learned a lot from as well. If anyone has any questions I am here to answer them.

Event description
[Just added 15 more spots.]
Who cares about this stupid recession, anyways? We can survive and thrive by trading with each other!
This happy hour will be all about networking with the intent to barter so come prepared with ideas about what you'd be willing to trade to get yourself working at full capacity.
And, for some extra fun, you can sign up for Dibspace.com -- the brand new barter currency for indie businesses. It's free and it liberates you from the old fashioned one-to-one barter.

You know what we need? Massage therapists. Lots of them. I'm sure they'd be a HUGE hit at the event.
If you know some, make sure you invite them.

FYI: I'm part of a wonderful group of barterers, with hundreds of members in Port Townsend and Bellingham, and spreading south.
Seattle could easily open a branch of this group. The PT people have an interesting approach, where they are not politically or legally under the same structure as the original, Bellingham group, and I can easily connect you with people who can tell you more about that.
Trades are recorded on the website, and you can go into "commitment", meaning that your spending is currently greater than your receiving. It's a great system!
The website is http://www.fourthcornerexchange.com

I've heard good things about Fourth Corner but I haven't used them. They seem to be pretty huge in Bellingham though.
For those looking for a barter currency here in Seattle, you could check out Dibspace. It's free and we already have about 370 members.
AND you get 100 credits just for signing up your business, so after you spend a couple of minutes signing up, you could go spend your credits on a much needed massage!

hmmmm.... I hadn't even finished registering for your site, Dibspace.com, when you and Aaron were already asking to follow me on the site. A bit strange!

I've signed up on Dibs but I'm not sure I can make it to this event.
My service available for dibbing is helping you write content to spiff up your website or marketing materials to draw in more committed customers.
I am also a writing coach and can help you with your personal writing projects.
Cheers! Suzanne

What a great event and idea. I love what you are creating on DibSpace. As a Life Coach I can see how DibSpace will be a great medium for people who have always wanted to explore the benefits of having a life coach but maybe couldn't go there due to finances. I look forward to future events.
