Yes, Lori, I will be there! It is funny, when I was in corporate, doing the happy hours was the life we did. Since I have been a indie most of my last 20 or so years, and raised a family - there hasn't been much of it; so this is a new idea for me.

Am looking forward to it...for having a "business happy hour in December" sounds like alot of fun! I'll be there!

Miss a party? Never! You are right on the ball organizing this early, Lori - great! Things get busy as December goes along. What a fun idea. I look forward to celebrating this magical time of year with my new Biznik friends and colleagues.

    Warm regards, Meredith

  • Lori Richardson

Scott, thanks for the reminder about the Art Walk. I also want to make a "shout out" for the Allied Arts sale going on as well as all the other art and craft sales (two others that I know of) in Bellingham /Fairhaven.

Sarah - I'll be in festive attire - wear as dressy or as "biz casual" as you like! (I like to get some of this shiny stuff on once in a while, though!

So sad I'll miss the festivities, gals and guys. Have a blast!

Jeanne, you might recognize Nikki's Bella Marina as the former Lucci's restaurant. It sits right on the water next to the Bellingham Yacht Club.

From downtown Bellingham, you access the restaurant by following Roeder Avenue toward the harbor, past Bellwether Way and the Port of Bellingham.

Turn left on Harbor Loop and follow the road until you are forced to turn right or left. By this time, you will see the sign for the restaurant, which will be essentially right in front of you.

    Park anywhere and have fun!

Lori, I am driving my hubby (now a biznik) James to a doctors appt. up there, so he'll also be attending, as well I invited a former biznik I am trying to lure back to the fold: a wonderful national magazine owner, Judith of Cities Go Green.

Hopefully they are both welcome! I'm leaving my sparkles outift for the Seattle biznink gig, but will be cheery non the less. Drive safe everyone! Snow is holding off, thankfully.

Yahoo! I get to be the first to post a comment after the event. All I can say is thank you Lori and what a group of enthusiastic people!

After introductions which took up a good part of the first hour everybody launched into what appeared to be the most enthusiastic group of entrepreneurs interacting that I've seen in the last two years. Considering the economy we are in right now that is incredible!

I think Bellingham is on the cutting edge of this new way of doing business. What do you think?

  • Scott Holen
Posted by Scott Holen, Bellingham, Washington | Dec 12, 2008

    Tony,

I think Bellingham will show itself to be a strong Biznik community as a melting pot of great people, great ideas and great effort. In ways, we have already done that. Thank you for your efforts in this collective, collaborative community.

It was nice to meet you and I'm looking forward to your next event on Joomla.

Wow - what a fun time, everyone! Thanks for all of your "gifts" of inspirational quotes and even Haiku (thanks, Bliss!)

I said I'd post access to my e-book called, "Winning Teammates" - about a system to put in place to keep track of your referral relationships. Either send me an email at lori@scoremoresales.com and I'll email the PDF to you, or for quicker service, go to www.winningteammates.com and just put in your name and email and you'll get immediate access to it. Will post photos soon - who would have thought we'd have such a great sunset at our event!

  • Tom Ransom
Posted by Tom Ransom, Bellingham, Washington | 4 weeks ago

Lori asked that we post the quotes or whatnot from our introductions. I have been collecting pithy saying on my personal site [http://tomransom.com] and the two I shared were:

In prosperity, our friends know us; In adversity, we know our friends.

    • John Churton Collins

    and my other quote -

Starting a blog solely to make money is like learning ventriloquism to meet women.

    • Merlan Mann of 49folders.com

Great event and a delight to meet so many local entrepreneurs.

What a great re-energizing event!! One of the best things about Biznik events is the great enery that I get out of each event. So here is my Haiku that I wrote:

Enjoyed meeting new folks....the room was like a very busy bee hive. Beautiful location with the sunset and the water. Mahalo Lori for hosting a fine event...

  • Joy Gilfilen
Posted by Joy Gilfilen, Bellingham, Washington | 4 weeks ago

It is a real testimony to the people that I never saw the sunset and I was sitting looking right out towards it. I was soo busy listening to people and hearing their openhearted communications that I missed it completely. Incredible. I usually am very aware of what nature is doing...and I missed it because the human nature inside the room was just alive!

    My quote is my own:

    "Freedom is the ultimate response-ability."

I have learned that it is only when we accept absolute responsibility for ourselves, our minds and our lives that we are free. And when we are truely free we can accept the responsiblity to be responsible for our actions and ripple effects on the people and the world around us. And when we are being responsible...it means we are fully response-enabled.

It is a rather paradoxical thing. For as soon as you abdicate responsibility to someone else in whatever way...we lose our own freedom.

    To Lori and everyone attending.

Thanks so much for sharing all of your uplifting words as we all find ways to make our businesses successful during these uneasy times.

    My words of wisdom were:

When you get up each morning, say Thank You as you put each foot on the floor. Being thankful for all we have each day starts you off with a positive mindset and gratitude for all that you will be given that day.

    Have a wonderful holiday everyone.

  • Trina Bol

Happy Holidays to everyone that was there last night! I hope the excitement and energy in the room last night is a catapault that carries us all into 2009 with great success. Thanks to all for being part of a great way to celebrate 2008.

My Quote: You can have anything you want as soon as you decide to let go of the belief that you can't have it.

Hi Everyone. It was great to meet you all and it was a great location. I offered a Christmas Present to everyone that attended, it's an annual end-of-year offering called "taste of success" which I would like to offer anyone that attended last night a 45 minute complimentary coaching session. We can talk about where you might feel stuck in business and possible solutions, strategies for thriving in this economy, and more. Anyone interested please email me at: Liam@ceoadvisor.ca or drop me a message through Biznik.

    I shared two quotes:

If you want to fly with Eagles don't run with Turkeys

Definition of Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results

quote from my forthcoming book: Energy Soup: (this is from an elder character forty years in the futurespoken to us in our now):

There were and are people who transcend racial, economic, spiritual, cultural, and status quo limitations. They see each person as a divine spirit expressing him or herself as a human. These are people who are able to envision a future without the superficial boundaries we have imposed on each other.

    These people are the DreamChangers.

DreamChangers are visionaries, since they have visions of what dreams are possible. They then act from their visions and set about creating the world they envision.

....the main reason DreamChangers had (and have) such a profound effect on the world is this: they tapped into principles of truth which were accessible to ordinary people on the planet if one would but follow their lead. There were principles of love and care for one another; there was a way to access God or Source, and there were principals of compassion, morality, justice, and peace—how could other humans not desire such things in their seemingly meaningless lives?

  • Rev. Elke Siller Macartney
Posted by Rev. Elke Siller Macartney, LaConner, Washington | 4 weeks ago

oh my.... so my quote was a little on the wordy side...but I truly felt the enrgy of the room as hosting such Dreamchngers!

Happy holy-days everyone! Happy Solstice, Hannukah, Christmas, and all manner of sacred and de-light-full times!

    bright belssings, the Rev

I enjoyed meeting many of you for the first time and some of you again--I've never made so many great connections in such a short time! There's nothing like the energy of positive, like-minded, truly caring peers to convince you that the world is good and just getting better.

    I shared:

"Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you." a Maori proverb

Enjoy the season everyone. I look forward to meeting you again!

No Haiku but my two quotes from my father were

"If you're going to New York, Don't get off in Chicago"

    and

"you can't steer a ship in port"

and lastly, one I didn't share was

"get you hands out of your pockets, you can't make any money that way"

I probably didn't share that one because I can't seem to break the habit yet. Maybe one day........Scott

Thank you, Lori, for a fun and creative event. I so enjoyed meeting NEW local Biznikers and greeting folks I have met at other events. I loved the quote idea and appreciate everyone sharing their inspiration. Mine was the Serenity Prayer which I learned in 8 years in Al-Anon, a terrific 12-Step program (there are many!)

"God, grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, to change the things I can, and the Wisdom to know the difference." And it's made all the difference....

Blessings, all, for a joyous 2009! I look forward to building our Biznik community here.
