Event description

Bellingham Birds (women and their supporters) grab your walking shoes and meet @Wood's Coffee on Chestnut and Railroad...we will walk and talk our way every Friday morning to Woods@ Boulevard Park (approx 8:15 arrival) along the South Bay Trail. Halfway point is Woods/Boulevard-- we grab more gals and a potty break or to-go cup before heading back. Not a competition... just a chance to share thoughts alongside other entrepreneurs and enjoy the waterfront.

Over time, as we walk, we will observe the changes on our Waterfront redevelopment and open a dialogue on ways to improve our community, one step at a time...literally!

One way about 1.5 Miles. Flat, easy gravel and asphalt trail. Breezy on the best of days so bring a light jacket.

*Note: we added 'supporters' to make this event open to all! Bring a friend, your dog (on leash), baby stroller, whatever!

Great Mary Alice, looking forward to meeting you!

Hey, it's official (I read it on biznik so it must be true) walking makes you smarter!!!

According to Dr. Barry Thompson, mental health counselor of Redmond, a member of the Walk and Talk group http://biznik.com/groups/walk-talk-events walking makes you smarter:

"Walking is great; it makes us feel good, makes us fitter, boosts brain circulation/metabolism, and also increases something called brain-derived neurotrophic factor, which helps the brain make new neurons!"

That is so true, exercise and walking release all sorts of positive endorphins in our brain and is a great emotional relaxer, mood enhancer and (as in the case of your Friday walk) reminds us that we really do live in one of the most lovely places in the world.

Patricia...every entrepreneur needs a late morning... at least one day a week.

    See you Friday!

I am so happy to see our earlybirds are catching on. See you all tomorrow morning. Remember to park in unmetered spaces as the Bellingham metermaids start ticketing at 9:00 am. Should be lots of unmetered spots on Chestnut. We should be back by 8:45 unless an executive decision for coffee midway strikes us!

Gotta pass on this walk. A project I am working on needs some major last minute work and my best work time is early mornings.

    Perhaps, next week.

Why not meet us halfway at Boulevard (8:15) and I'll drive you back? 1.5 miles for half trek.

WOW what a fantastic morning to be out along the waterfront trail! Our group grew to eight along the way with Elizabeth meeting us at Boulevard Park and Patricia bringing Becky...her co- worker. Lori met us at the endgame at Woods on Chestnut and shared some fantastic ideas about an possible Strengths event...so it was quite an inspiring morning. I counted Joy as an attendee because she met us on the path back. Hey, I'll count your dog for showing up...the more the merrier!

Next week: same time same place. I'll repost and remind everyone that I"m happy to drive you back if you can only manage halfway from Boulevard.

Thanks for organizing Susan...and now that I've managed to get out the door early enough to attend once, I'm sure it will be easier next time. It was tons of fun...AND great networking as well!

Thank you, Susan for including me, for it was a quick connection...but my heart was with you all along the way. It was not possible because of car issues to meet you sooner. Next time I will be there the whole way. It is a terrific walk, and gives you a whole new way of seeing and experiencing Bellingham. I have walked the trail before...and it is gorgeous!
