Event description

This event was inspired by discussion on the Biznik blog regarding Dan's list of favorite Social Media books of the past year. Seth Godin's Tribes: We Need You To Lead Us explores the importance of leadership in all manner of "tribes" evolving in our culture, particularly those whose growth is largely supported by social media.

I am curious to hear not only your thoughts on the book, but your own narratives of the joys and challenges of leading the many tribes you represent.

We will be meeting at the delightful Pub at Third Place Books in Ravenna. Vios Cafe is scheduled to open upstairs in the bookstore on Dec 1 and will be offering menu options as well as Greek Wines down in the pub. http://www.3rdplacepub.com/index.html

Looking forward to seeing you there!

OMG a book club! I am so there!

    ~Kirsten

Wait... does that mean I have to actually read the book? ;)

This book is freakin' amazing. It's like he wrote a 1,000 page book, but then distilled it down to something you can read in one sitting. The only thing that sucks is every sentence is so packed with meaning, that I find myself having to stop at the bottom of almost every page and re-read it, just to be sure grasped it all. Can't wait to discuss.

Excited to get the book and discuss with you guys, but sad I couldn't get him for Biznik Live.

Books groups like this (esp if regular) will be great for Biznik Groups.

Dan's enthusiasm about the book, broadcast in an event I just attended, spurred me to dive in. I feel like a convert already, and I don't have the book in my hands yet. I figure this group is going to have a high energy output rating...

You've got plenty of time to read the book, Jane - it's a quick read at 150 pages. Glad you'll be joining us!

    Shifting gears...

I couldn't remember which people asked for the specifications on the software engineer we're looking to hire. Here's a link to the Biznik blog post: http://blog.biznik.com/2008/11/23/biznik-is-hiring-a-lead-software-engineer/

What an exciting exchange we had last night! Kept me in reverie for my drive home - and up until 3 a.m. with a Biznik "buzz" on... Thank you one and all for the candid, impassioned sharing of experience and vision. I bought Outliers on my way out the door. Can hardly wait to dive in again!

Excellent, energizing, discussion. Thanks for launching this Carrie & Dan. And it has led (thanks to the group sharing their thoughts on a video) to an upcoming interview with Seth himself.
