Event description

Come cheer for your favorite film of 2008 AND promote your favorite business - yours! - at the Biznik Green Carpet Oscars Bash.

Bring a bottle of wine or a beverage to share - this will be a recession-friendly BYOB event - at Seattle's largest film production studio in the heart of Fremont, Fremont Studios - owned by Biznik Member, Scott Jonas. We'll have the place to ourselves!

Watch the The 81st Annual Oscars show in a beautiful private theater that seats 40, or network downstairs is the spacious lounge, set up with a large-screen TV and dozens of comfy couches. Meet and mingle with other Bizniks throughout the evening.

The live telecast starts at 5pm with the Red Carpet Show. The awards ceremony runs from 5:30 to 8:30.

Strut Your Stuff
Got a glittery gown collecting dust? Dress to impress and strut your stuff down the "green carpet." We can't let Hollywood have all the fun, can we? Fancy dress, festive gowns and penguin suits welcomed (but not required.)

Spaghetti Dinner and Food Bank Drive
Thanks to Scott, a spaghetti dinner will be provided. We ask that you bring a non-perishable food item for a food bank drive.

Earlier we offered to place a group pizza order for whoever wanted in. I may still do this for the 96 who RSVP'd prior to the spaghetti announcement. Come prepared to wing-it!

131 Bizniks attended this event

Plus 111 more. [show all]

This venue is jaw-dropping. We're pinching ourselves that we have the opportunity to do this event on short notice at Seattle's largest film production studio. This is truly an inspired setting for an evening of dressing up and getting down with your bad indie self in a setting that will make you feel like the star you are. Thanks, Scott, for hosting us.

Now, what am I going to wear...

I'd appreciate it if you'd ask your dates to sign up for Biznik, since creating an account is free. Is that too much to ask?? That way we can easily track attendees and be sure not to go over the limit. Thank you!

My 2 cents worth is that if you can attend an event with Dan-n-Lara hosting, Don't miss it.
They are Top Shelf leaders. And the Venue makes it a Slam Dunk deal!

Since this is a GREEN event (and since I don't drink), those of you EASTSIDERS who might want to carpool to this, save the planet, have a designated driver, and all that -- let's ORGANIZE! I can leave the Totem Lake / Kingsgate Park and Ride area at about 4:30 p.m. and will have room for 3-4 others(besides myself). I'm so excited. I just can't hide it. My first Oscar bash. Biznik has put me on the map, and I think I like it! Dave Kuhns, writer 206-605-2022

Looks like we have about 100 RSVP so far, just so you know I am up-grading the party to a spaghetti feed, because it is starting a 5pm and I will be hungry. ALSO, Can we make this a food bank event and have everyone bring two non perishable food items that we can give to local food banks? The spaghetti is on us....

Hey we need some paparazzi at this event. I know of at least one that is already signed on to show up with flash and camera, but I think a small army of them will be required to properly document the arrival of this crew. I'll extend an invite to any professional photographer who'd like to attend ...

Annika -- see Dan's post about "professional photographers". :-D Dan / Lara / Scott ... here's an idea: what about if people who are only going to be there PART of the time -- let you know. (I mean, I'll be there the ENTIRE time, but.. you know.. some of the people might be fashionably late, have to leave early to change their kids' diapers, whatever). Kinda like a museum opening... could you extend the numbers that way? Scott, let me know if you need help in the pasta kitchen... I'm a vet of MANY soccer/baseball/Midwest pot luck pasta feeds! David, Annika, and all still looking, we are watching to see how many want to squeezzzzzz in. The building capacity overall is 3000, we are confining this event to the screening theater and backstage area we call the village. As far as the total attendance, I am only worried about everyone being comfortable and being able to watch the TV show. The theater seats 50 with another 20 in standing room. The downstairs village will have good seating for another 50. I have food for 150 and more, there is lots of standing room and spillage into the front hall and I will have studio A open for looks. Unfortunately we have all 8 of our cinema HD projectors working out on other shows this week and weekend or I would open up studio A as a big showroom theater for as many as wanted to come. (Next Time). I don’t know how to predict the no-shows. Watch till this time tomorrow and will see how many more want to come......At this time I feel we can squeezes a few more in understanding viewing of the show may become a little limited.

David, thanks for the kitchen help offer, we do formal dinners weekly for 700. Spaghetti and Meatballs, no brainer, lets leave it up to the catering staff.

PS. I may need help on Saturday with hotdogs! (Just Kidding)

Suggestion: send out an email the day before or day of and request those who are not coming to remove their RSVP so others feel free to join. I'd try to make it if I knew there was room. I was hoping one of my fabulous film buff friends that I'm going to the Seattle Flower and Garden Show with on Sunday would also be able to attend this Green Carpet Extravaganza with me. Alas, I cannot figure out what to do with the plants and goodies we'll likely buy at the show (We're avid gardeners) nor how to change from our gardening costumes to the doubtless award winning glamorous gowns we'd wear to this Green Carpet event! So I'll pull myself, very reluctantly, from the attendee list and make room for another biznik to attend. I WILL BE ABLE TO ATTEND ONE OF THESE GRAND EVENTS SOMEDAY! Have fun everyone! Penny

Remember you don’t need to eat before you get here, we are providing a fresh Cesar salad and Spaghetti buffet with all the necessities needed for whatever you bring as refreshment. We also ask, if you can, please bring at least two non-perishable food items for the Fremont area food banks.

The Oscar live broadcast will be seen in two areas of the facility, the screening theater upstairs seats 50 plus standing room, this will be the best and most spectacular location to view the broadcast in HD, first come first serve. The other area is the room you first enter, “The Village”, this will have cozy couch seating with plenty of standing and socializing room. The Oscars will be displayed on a 60” HD screen focused to the general seating area. If you’re a dedicated Oscar spectator get here early to save your seat in the theater.

Also, be sure to have your "professional pose" for the paparazzi at the door.

Thank you again, you’re going to have a fabulous time.

Scott Jonas – Owner, Mat Kane – Special Event Manager, Scott McGargle - Master Catering Chef, Chad Britzman - Studio Assistant, David Peterson – IT/AV/Production,

    And of course,

Dan McComb and Lara Feltin of Biznik

    This is so fabulous!

As a dedicated Greenie & living car-free, the level of my personal fabulousness (i.e. attire) is dependent on whether I can get a ride from Northgate (spike heels and thin evening gown do not mesh with bus stops in February).

Anyone headed south from north? I'm located very near the Northgate Mall.

A lot of us will be taking pictures this evening, and in order to make it easy for us all to share our photos with everyone else, I'm going to propose we all upload our best photos to flickr (free account), and tag our photos with "fremont studios biznik oscars 09."

That should also work well with what Ken and Victoria are doing (and other professional photographers who will be covering this event) - you can review the photos on flickr, then contact the photographer with requests for any specific images you'd like professional prints from.

Question for all you fabbo Red Carpet experienced people: Does a Robin Williams look-alike in black tie need arm candy when he rolls up to the [green] carpet? I mean, everyone I ever see is coupled or in groups! Having said that... I'm still looking for Carpoolers from the northern parts of the Eastside (Bothell, Kirkland, etc.) I can drive BUT here's the deal... since I DON'T drink, and I LOVE socializing with Biznik people AND eating pasta, I plan to leave at 4:30, be part of the "OH MY HECK I'M SO EXCITED I MUST BE A TOURIST OR A FIRST-TIMER!!" crowd, and leave at the end -- like 9:30 or 10 pm? Unless of course there's some after-party party! BUT if you want to carpool with THOSE requirements -- Dave Kuhns - www.cyranowriter.com 206-605-2022 Oh, yeah.. for the green carpet, I'll roll in a leather interior, 1983 Silver Jaguar - the same model Princess Di used to drive when she drove herself. <giggle>

This was a terrific party! Thanks so much to Scott for the swell spaghetti and gracious hosting; and thanks to Dan and Lara for planning and hosting too!

What a nice opportunity to see glam outfits, mix, and hang out in the beautiful theater. Didn't hurt, as others have said, that it was a gem of an awards show this year.

Hm. Maybe I should go to glam dress-up events regularly! Starts off the week on a, let's say, polished note :-).

Thank you for the fantastic event! The number of people who got in the spirit of Hollywood glam was extraordinary. The attention to detail paid by Scott and his crew from Fremont Studios was magical. I can't wait for next year's bash!

Contact Scott if you'd like to learn more about renting out Fremont Studios for your own event. Their professionalism was truly over the top.

A big thank you to our professional Paparazzi: Bryace Mohan, Ken & Victoria Lapp, and Paul Butterfield, who generously donated their time to take shots of our fabulous revelry. We've asked them to upload their photos to Flickr and tag them with, "fremont studios biznik oscars 09," so you can find them. Please contact each photographer directly about purchasing professional prints.

While the event and people and outfits were awesome, I am excited for the kinds of Biznik events that need a space like Fremont Studios...

Who will create a 500 person event? What will the subject be?

The question is no longer "If?" there will be a Biznik event of that size ... the question now is "When?"

    I'm looking forward to it!

oooo I want to do a 500 person event! Anyone want to do this with me? :) And yes, what will our topic be?

It was an amazing event - def the best Oscars party I've been to. I second Annie's words about the personal viewing of the show. WOW!

I wish there had been more before and after show interaction time. I couldn't get there earlier than 530 and by the end of the show, people were leaving.

Great food, drink and thanks for the chocolate and popcorn snacks as well! :) I LOVE movie popcorn!

This place definitely is amazing - I almost fell over!

Thanks to our photographers for saucy images of Kristen and I on the red carpet. We are SO incourageable together. haha.

ANd thank you to our hosts Scott, Dan and Lara. I am always up for co-hosting as well!

    Blessings fabulous ones!
