Event description

NOTE: DATE CHANGED TO AVOID CONFLICT WITH HOWARD HOWELL'S MONTHLY AUTHOR-PUBLISHER ROUNDTABLE.

Writing can be a solitary endeavor, filled with challenges at every step of the way. Whether we're struggling with overcoming writer's block, looking for the perfect market for our writing, or identifying the next stage of the process, we can all use some support and fresh ideas from time to time. This event is an opportunity to connect with other writers and generate ideas to get you moving forward with your projects.

We'll start with brief introductions, and then turn the focus to specific challenges. Each participant will have the chance to describe his or her current writing goals and needs, and the rest of the group will offer suggestions for how to move forward.

Some examples:

Writer A has some great ideas for magazine articles, but doesn't know which publications might be suitable. We'll brainstorm possible markets to approach.

Writer B is a copywriter looking for opportunities in a particular field. We'll brainstorm possible ways to find the right types of projects or clients.

Writer C is an expert in a particular subject and wants to write about it, but doesn't know whether to write a book, articles, or something else altogether. We'll brainstorm the possibilities.

Come prepared with specific writing goals or challenges you want to discuss, and be ready to put on your thinking cap to help generate suggestions for other writers.

Annika, I am really sorry I can't be at your meet-up. Please let me know if you have another one! I have to make a last minute emergency trip to Houston this Thursday.

No worries, Howard. It sounds as if there's enough interest to warrant holding another of these. I'll probably do it sometime in mid- to late October.

Fantastic event, Annika! Thanks for doing this. I'm sorry I couldn't stay longer. I'm intensely curioyus about the other's stories and projects. Thanks to everyone for the fantastic feedback, and to Jenny especially for the dropcard and great ideas. When's the next one?

    Cheers!

Thanks, Suzanne. I think the event was successful, and given the amount of interest expressed by people who attended and others who couldn't make it, I'll plan on hosting another one in October. I'll keep you posted.
