Date Change We moved the event to the 16th of October. Please note this and we are going to meet at Fat Straw -
At the first event, we discussed "What do I need to make my business explode in the next half of the year?" We pulled out our creative-mojo, crayons and pastels to illustrate on paper what that would look like. At the second event, we reviewed some of those drawings.
What I noticed in some of the participants drawing this time was more clarity, a more finely tuned path to success. For this meeting I thought it would be valuable if we focused on one of the most important aspects of being an indie - visibility! The question was then posed, “What three things could you do in the next 8 weeks that provide you with greater visibility?” Again, the creative drawing exercise was the spring board for this opportunity. We also made sure that everyone had a buddy to check in with, assess there goals and have some accountability to spur them on.
Because of the success of this group, we are doing it again and will continue as long as the group finds it to be of value an growth. (Depending on the weather)-This is a bring your own lunch kind of event, and we'll try to make a cohesive circle with chairs we bring. Yes, this means if you can bring more than one chair, that’d be great. Again, weather permitting - we may have to do something different about lunch, at Fat Straw. We shall see.
Come take part in building a local community of like-minded business indies, whose energy and group-think can empower us to do great things with our businesses, and for each other! Please try to arrive by 11:00am so we can start and wrap up by 12:30pm, with plenty of networking and buddy-building. Please be aware that in Laurelhurst Park, we are meeting by the NE side of the pond, on the Ankeny St. side. If you get lost my cell is 503-869-2660 However! If the weather does not extend through October, we will be meeting at the Fat Straw (Bubble Tea) in their large “livingroom.” Fat Straw is located at: 4258 SE Hawthorne Blvd.
PLEASE Note: Anyone can attend this event, if you missed the last one, you are more than welcome to come! As a prep, think about the next 4-6 weeks and what you could do to gain more visibility. Then, draw a picture of what that success would look like and bring it with you! We'd love to see what you come up with!

I wish that I could make this event. Hopefully it will be ok to jump in to the next one!
I was thinking that we could vote on a topic - I have my ideas. I'm up for suggestions.
With such a diverse group - It can be a little tough to come up with a topic that is across the board - other than marketing, networking, visibility and self-promotion - which is what I'm all about now, but maybe that isn't were everyone is.
I think we all can be stronger in that area - no one is a total success in that area - except Donald Trump.

I was a "maybe", but there isn't an RSVP for that I don't think.
Emma - and everyone - we have decided to postpone until Thursday the 16th of October. I will find a way to change it, so the date can be moved, but the page here stays.
So I changed the date and will be e-mailing everyone. The Fat Straw room is $25.00 for 3 hours. I can book it and we can each put in, what? $2.00?

Hi everyone, Sorry, but I won't be able to attend. Alas, I'm swamped with work and need to buckle down and get things done before the weekend hits so I'm not holed up in my office all weekend.
I hope it's a highly productive time for you all!
Well the event was a success and I thank everyone who made it! We have changed the name of the group to The Laurelhurst Biznik Group - so be aware of that change.
Our next in-person meeting will probably be in 4 weeks - November the 20th. We will meet at the Fat Straw again, because it was so incredibly comfortable, noise free and the staff is great.
I'll put it down for the 20th on my calendar and I hope nothing squeezes it out again.
