Event description

Anyone who’s met me knows I’m an extrovert. I love attending business networking events and meeting new people. However, I realize this is a less than comfortable activity for other Bizniks, so let’s meet and discuss some tricks of the extroverted trade that even introverts can use to network effectively and painlessly. Learn from my passion to communicate and connect. We’ll address these topics in a safe environment through a light-hearted, interactive workshop. I’ll come with some ideas, we’ll develop some together and everyone will leave with a personal strategy plan they’ve developed to help them get the most out of future events.

This event will be held at Mosaic, a wonderful donation only coffee shop. All proceeds go to that month’s designated non-profit agency, so please keep that in mind when ordering your coffee or snacks at the event. Also, I will “pass the hat” and if everyone can donate at least a few dollars to donate to Mosaic for use of the private room where the workshop will be held, that would be greatly appreciated...good karma will no doubt come back to you!

I heard about this from you last night. I'm going to try to make it but, as you might have guessed from our Biznik Book event on Daniel Pink's book, A WHOLE NEW MIND, I'm much too much like an extrovert to let the introverts say what they need to say without being interrupted!

But, please know that I'm the kind of TRUE introvert that can perform extrovert -- just like Robin Williams and Steve Martin (also introverts). I do have a lot to learn to dial down the nervousness that leads to "uber-performing," you know?

    See you soon, perhaps!

Nancy, it was great meeting you tonight. Thank you for introducing yourself, just like the true extrovert you are! I'm really looking forward to your seminar and learning some ideas and ways to becoming more comfortable during the networking portion of these events!

    Hi Rebecca,

Thx for the message. It was great to meet you, as well. I'm looking forward to seeing you again and chatting more, either at this event or sooner. In the meantime, keep up the great networking, you're on the right path! ;0)

I'm with Jennifer - nervous energy gets me wound up ... I'm making myself get out there, yet really need to smooth out the rough edges. I am eager to gather tips from a pro :-D

Yeah, Leslie....I was hoping you'd join us! Conversations you and I have had were part of the inspiration for this workshop. Even the posts here are inspiring components of the material we'll cover. I'm really jazzed about this event and hope everyone finds it helpful..and I hope I can live up to my "pro" status! ;0)

Keep in mind that networking is about being genuine and authentic, building trust and relationships, and seeing how you can help others.

    Hi all,

I came across this via the Help a Reporter Out feed. I realize that there is a difference between being shy and being an introvert but often times there is some overlap. Wanted to alert the shy folks that a publisher is looking for shy business owners to interview for a book. Could be some great exposure for your biz! Note the deadline to contact the publisher is April 12th.

    Contact: Ben Ohmart

    Email: benohmart@yahoo.com

    Title: Publisher

Media Outlet/Publication: BearManor Media (book on shyness)

    Anonymous? No

    Specific Geographic Region? No

Region: Deadline: 6:00 PM EASTERN - April 12

Query: "Looking for anyone in business, especially owners or managers, to share their tips on how to combat/embrace their own shyness in the work place. Not how to be bold, but how you deal with what some might call your 'shortcomings' in dealing with people, crowds, making decisions involving aggressive people, making sales calls, etc. and still do your job well, whether you like the art of schmoozing or not."

Nancy ~ Thank you for taking the time to put this together. I learned so much from your seminar (both from you and all the other people in the room.) I think it helps, more than a little, to know there other people who are just as uncomfortable networking as I am. I am actually looking forward to trying out some of the new ideas at the next event!

    ~ Rebecca
