I'd love to get my name badge! But...I'm hosting my own event this evening.

Hmm, I may try to swing by afterwards, if I'm not completely burned out.

Is there another way to pick it up?

Oh fun! I hate sticky-nametags. They always end up in my hair.

I would love to come but I have an early morning meeting in Portland on Wednesday. Will you be doing a meeting in Portland as well?

I also prefer magnetic name badges. Maybe have that as an option. Is that possible?

@Peter, I'm afraid this event is limited to Biznik Pro members only - but there many other events in the calendar that do not have restrictions, is you'd like to introduce your friends to Biznik.

If you think they are apt to join Biznik and would really like to be at this event, I have a tip for you - we just released a new feature that allows you (as a Pro member) to sponsor the first 30 days of a Pro Membership for a basic member at no cost to you.

To utilize it, your friends would have to take a few minutes to create a free profile on Biznik. After doing so, you can find a link to "Sponsor this Member" in the left column of their profile.

I'm going to miss going to Office Max for those swanky "hello" name tags....

Awesome event, Dan and Lara! I knew the name tags were in the works and so excited you've finally rolled them out :-)

I regret I cannot make it, but super-excited to give them out with Lori Richardson to Pro Members here in Portland.

Thanks for explaining the sponsorship option. I want that was!

I'm jazzed about the name tags, but Tuesday evening Rep. McDermott is holding a Town Hall meeting at Meany Hall on health care. Given how much crazy response there's been around the country to these meetings, I feel some of us have to go and offer something sane. Hope there's another chance to get my tag.

Posted by Lara Feltin, Seattle, Washington | Aug 30, 2009

No worries, there will be other opportunities to get your badges - but this is your chance to get yours well before everyone else!

Portland & Vancouver, WA Bizniks may collect their name badges on Tuesday 9/8, at an event hosted by Lori Richardson.

Bellingham Bizniks may collect their name badges on Friday 9/4 at an event also hosted by Lori Richardson.

Lori Richardson is Bellingham's Biznik Ambassador.

Thanks Lara for the update. I'm so glad Lori is bringing name tags for the Portland and Vancouver areas, and for those who cannot make Lori's event in Portland, I will host another opportunity to get the badges to them.

This sounds like a great event. I'm sorry to have to miss it!

Here's a little security tip for all our new Badge Carrying Biznik members: If you keep your name badge in your car, put it in a lidded box in the trunk, along with anything else that might identify you. Theives are targeting cars for mail and stuff that gives them an opportunity steal your identity.

While you're at it, just clean out your car! Of course by now you've stopped leaving your cameras, cell phones, GPS system, and stuff you just bought at the store anywhere they can be seen by theives looking for stuff to steal.

I look forward to picking up my name badge, meeting you all, and being impressed by your non-victim, clean and lovely cars at a future event.

  • Patricia Taran
Posted by Patricia Taran, Shoreline, Washington | Aug 31, 2009

Hiya and thanks for such a cool idea for all of us.

Lovin' it. Don't know if I'll have time between appointments to swing by but I'll do my best. If not I'll have to postpone it and wait for another opportunity.

Darn, I have nothing to wear that matches my name tag........bye now I'm going shopping :)

I'll be there. I don't know if I'll be on the Eastside coming TO the event (that's what I'm thinking), and I definitely will be going BACK to the Eastside afterwards. SOOO... in the interest of saving the planet, if anyone wants to meet me at the South Kirkland P&R before the event and carpool (so we can get in the 3-person carpool lane coming across 520 and wave at the Microsofties as we pass) -- please let me know! David- what time you planning on heading over/back?

  • David Kuhns
Posted by David Kuhns, Kirkland, Washington | Sep 01, 2009

Eastside carpool saving the planet will probably leave the South Kirkland Park and Ride (P&R shortly before 5, and leave at about 8, which should put us back on the eastside about 8:15... but I can be flexible. These events rock so hard that I like to have EVERY instant of every minute to network...

  • John Robertson
Posted by John Robertson, Burien, Washington | Sep 01, 2009

This precludes me from one of my favorite pranks: the sticky name tag printed with "Hello, My Name Is"....onto which I write: Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

Most Bizniks recognize this famous movie quote immediately and usually give me a bemused smile, but there seems to be one at every event that sidles up and says "So...uh... Inigo...or is it Ineeego? what business are YOU in?"

To which I often simply reply "Revenge" - to the snickers of informed bystanders...

So, yeah, a bittersweet farewell to the sticky nametag.

Great event! I have now been to enough events and met enough people that I am now getting to network the way networking should be done - introduced a handful of people to each other - yaaay!!! The music reminded me of a seminar where they deliberately kept the music up loud to increase everyone's energy and commitment - It worked tonight!

    Lara,

I really enjoyed my first big Biznik event! I met lots of great people and some good business connections.

The music was a little loud and it was hard to hear what some people were saying. I agree with Joyce that it had great energy, but you hate to ask people to repeat themselves.

Love the new I.D. cards, I feel so "official" now!

This was a blast. I am glad I finally had a chance to meet you Lara.

I have to agree that the music made it hard to hear conversations with people.

I am looking forward to hearing more about ClubVip. Thanks for the great event last night. I'll load some of the shots I took.
