Well, the first shindig was a full-on hit, and thanks to all who came. I think there were something like 50 deals made in three hours. Seriously.

Looking forward to meeting more L.A. Bizniks for drinks, food and conversation at Jerry's in the Marina. Because I've seen it for myself in Seattle: as fun as it is being able to connect online, it's 10x better in person.

So come on out, okay? Bring your iPhone or crackberry if you can't bear to be away from the email for an hour or so, but bring yourself. I've secured the covered side patio for us--nice and quiet, big ol' heat lamps and yes, plenty of that free parking that's so rare today.

There is NO CHARGE to attend; just buy a drink or snack and Mike, our cruise director at Jerry's, will be happy to keep hosting. Bring small bills, in case we have to double up on checks. And a jacket--the patio is heated, but you never know.

I'll be the short one with the glasses, the nametag and the big, stupid grin. Can't wait to meet you!

There's a networking strategy that I like. Come with "What do I want to find?" "What do I want to give?" That helps with give and take. Another of my favorites is, "Who do you know who needs xxx (my services)?

Seriously, the idea here is not to have just one thing, way over on the Westside; it's to kickstart L.A., period. I'd love to see Biznik events all over the metro area, and in Hollywood? Or even North Hollywood?

I had a blast. Now I have some leg work to do so that I can make a proper introduction for one of the people I meant. Also I have to get more of my fellow Orange County folks involved so we can have a really eastside event in Orange County. I just love to get together with creative minds and there were some excellent creative minds there.
