Event description

Today, everyone is linking in. But is anyone truly connecting? If you are someone who thinks about business networking in terms of "community" rather than "tool," Biznik is for you. But how do you get the most out of this powerful mix of online and face-to-face events?

Join Biznik co-founders Dan McComb and Lara Eve Feltin, with Vancouver's Biznik Ambassador, Christa Patchen Wagner, for an in-depth look at how Biznik can help you:

  • Get Noticed. Learn why 93 percent of Biznik's top members rank on page 1 of Google, and how you can, too.

  • Get Published. Learn how you can enhance your professional reputation by sharing your expertise.

  • Get Real. Learn why face-to-face events are the most powerful catalysts of connections that help your business soar.

  • Get Current. How Biznik can help you keep up with the latest trends in business at member-hosted workshops and seminars.

  • Get Business. Why building relationships beats selling every time when it comes to getting new clients and customers. And how Biznik helps you do it.

We'll also give you an overview of how social media is transforming the way business relationships are made, and how to harness the power of word of mouth for your business using Biznik's easy-to-use collaborative approach to networking.

This event will start with 15 minutes of introductions, followed by an overview of social media, and how it's changing the way small businesses market themselves. Next, we'll dive into a hands-on demonstration of the many tools that Biznik puts at your fingertips.

We'll cover each section of the website, step-by-step. You'll learn best-practices for profile creation, tips for how to connect online, how to get the most out of hosting and attending face-to-face events, publishing articles on Biznik and what topics to choose for maximum impact. We'll also explain the difference between membership levels and show you how to use your profile to rank highly on search engines. We'll end the event with your questions, and we'll stick around for anyone who wants to continue the conversation over a drink at FigMint.

BONUS: Who can help you grow your business the most: people closest to you, or acquaintances? Learn why the power of "weak connections" is so important to the success of your business.

Hi Julie, We'd love to do this workshop in San Francisco. Tell your Bay Area Biznik friends to message me and if we get enough requests, we'll do it!

We will definitely make this happen in the Bay Area, too! :) We just need to get some momentum going down here and we will start with the Dec 1st event, Dan!

Was great to get together with the Vancouver contingency AND to delve into the back-end of Biznik and navigating the site.

Might be a great idea to introduce video tutorials along this line as well... just a thought!

    Good to meet everyone!

Well worth the drive in to another stellar event.

Always learn something new about Biznik & the e-world.

Heartfelt thanks to Christa for hosting & Dan & Lara for making the trip up to Van. and doing your retail therapy here to support our local businesses!

Thanks to Dan, Lara and Christa for an informative session. I plan to monitor my web presence in future with their advice in mind.

It was a real pleasure to meet everyone. I am only sorry that I had to dash out right after the presentation; I would have loved to hang around and get to know my fellow Biznikers a little better.

I do have one question for Dan and Lara - this event is not reflected on my profile. How do I ensure that it gets added, please?

Oh, and if anyone is looking at these comments with an eye to deciding whether to attend the Smoking Dog Bistro event, go! The Smoking Dog is a lovely venue with a great menu and delicious wines. You'll really enjoy it.

Thanks Dan, Lara, and Crista, for making this happen.

I found the presentation extremely valuable, as it helped me define what it is I need to do, and can do, in order to get the most benefit from Biznik.

Wonderful to meet and connect with everyone there last night. The most appealing thing for me is coming into an environment where building real connections and authentic relationships trumps a room full of folks making sales pitches.

Kudos to you both Dan and Lara, for setting Biznik up this way.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm looking forward to seeing more activity from the Vancouver community, and can't wait for another excuse to come back to one of my favorite cities to share more.

Thanks everyone, we had an awesome time and can't wait to do it again. Phyllis, I missed recording your attendance on my first pass, and I've corrected that now, so you're all set.

Stephanie, we love that idea so much that we actually started working on it about a week ago. We're planning to have short, 1-3 minute tutorial videos all over the site, by early next year.

Keep the great ideas flowing - post yours and vote on others in the Biznik IdeaExchange. Ideas that get the community's attention will get our attention, too.
