Great group we broke into. Ours was one of the referrals/marketing groups. We quickly discovered that marketing efforts are always a challenge for independent businesses. We all faced the same dilemma: what works, what doesn't, especially when marketing equates to systematically testing messages, mediums and target audiences. An idea that we grasped was a newsletter (electronic and/or printed) worked on co-operatively by the group (or some members) to share costs, input, articles, lists, etc. Potential advertising revenue could be garnered.

Good input from everyone. Sierra does it again. Thanks for including me.

This was a really useful meeting and a nice start for the healing practitioners group. Not just a one-time event, this is a group where, rather than having a speaker give a little bit of information as a segue to sell his or her services, there is the opportunity to brainstorm and pool resources so that everyone can benefit in the long-term. I encourage anyone who might be interested - who wants to help or who has something to contribute, to participate. Sierra wants to do this about once a month, so keep your eyes open.

Excuse me, typo correction: ...who "wants help" or who has something to contribute...

The themes that the group presented were on issues of competition and collaboration, and on marketing and educating both the allopaths and the general public.

There was the push pull of the idea of educating, selling and marketing being our job(s) and NOT being our job.

David Berkey described our small group discussion (see his comment above). He noted, and we agreed, that the one method of marketing that works best is Word of Mouth.

It was great to meet many of the health practitioners on Biznik face to face (hoping to meet the rest soon!). I just wanted to comment on the aspect that many biznik events are very problem-solving oriented. Many people are attracted to solving issues and overcoming challenges.

One thing I noticed for myself was that when I was in a supportive environment (this past healing practitioner meeting) I just wanted to share my challenge and get support, not necessarily advice or fixes. This actually helped me reframe my challenge by simply getting support and being heard and it inspired me to instigate a more support-style group (rather than a mastermind or marketing-focused group). Would anyone else be interested? Email me directly as well, if you would.

This event was like having a nut presented and cracking it open just enough to see what's on the other side.

I am going to post a tiny comment here and then take attendance. Sorry it took me a while this time, folks!

If you don't see your name on the "attended" list, but you did attend - please let me know and I will add you to the list.

    Thanks!

The postings are great. We had lots to talk about.

The ideas presented in this group were huge in their potential for prosperity, collaboration and evolution of the health care industry.

I do not know where it will eventually go as far as structure, but I know this group will be dynamic and evolutionary in its vision and goals.

The meeting started out as a full room discussion.

We all agreed to sector down into 4 groups - all discussing the topics the group picked.

I presented the ideas of reducing competitive thinking amongst healer-types and upping the circulation of clients among us.

The topics that were decided upon to discuss in small groups were:

    1. Issues with Referrals

    2. Reduction competitive (lack and fear-based choices regarding referring clients)

    3. Marketing

    4. Growing referrals

All these topics are actually very interwoven. One cannot talk about one without talking about the other, within this context. I would go so far as to say that this is true in the context of most of our healing practices as well.

What I would like to see - is a way to get the ideas and brainstorms from this discussion to become useful information that can be used and applied.

I hope to use biznik as a medium for the growth of this group as well as it's focus and purpose.

I will be meeting with Dan to discuss ideas on how to catch the information that is presented, convert it to practices that can be learned, record the progress the group has made, allow for subgroups and meetings who's hosts can add to the group's information pages without the need for the group admin to do the posting.

I feel strongly about this group and the issues we have just started to unwind.

I know that this group will have other leaders of it than me.

I have given birth to this idea for a group and I would like to see the ideas and visions from its participants live on in the hands of future groups who need the information.

I also see this as one step, one piece of a larger revolution.

basic goals - increase referrals, reduce competition, use collaboration to increase numbers of clients in all of our practices.

When we all work together - the pool of clients who see us all grows. We must circulate. We must think of our client's health and think of what they really need for themselves and their healing path.
