Event description

It's a new year and the dawn of a new era for the Los Angeles Biznik community! It is! I swear it!

Let's take this thing offline as our intrepid Biznik founders, Dan and Lara, intended, and meet up for drinks, food and conversation at Jerry's in the Marina. Seriously--as good as it is being able to connect online, it's 10x better in person. Trust me: I spent a month in Seattle, seeing how they do it up there, and it's AWESOME.

So come on out, okay? Bring your iPhone or crackberry if you can't bear to be away from the email for an hour or so, but bring yourself. I've secured the covered side patio for us--nice and quiet, big ol' heat lamps and yes, plenty of that free parking that's so rare today.

I'll be the short one with the glasses, the nametag and the big, stupid grin. Can't wait to meet you!

Wow, this is truly awesome to see you guys making Biznik come to life in LA. I'm totally impressed. Colleen, you rock. And I'm looking forward to a fab conversation with Colleen and you all tomorrow on her show. Colleen and I had a dry run conversation that made me late for another meeting, so I don't think we're going to run out of things to talk about :-)

    Go LA!

Just heard about this site from BTR, it looks promising, and this looks like a great event. I wish I could attend, but given where I live, it might take me an eternity to get there.

Does anyone live in the I.E.? Maybe we could do something out this way? Perhaps one day, if I get adventurous, I will head out your way. Have a great event, and thanks Colleen for introducing me to this site.

Thanks Elizabeth! I will have to listen to your show on Blogtalkradio.com too! You should do something out your way - why not? I believe there was someone having some Biznik meeting in IE check out the past events pages - and maybe you two could put one on together!

    Hey, Elizabeth!

By all means, start up some stuff in the Inland Empire. Seattle has tons of stuff but there are also adjacent communities that host their own events and cultivate their own community. And really, I'm guessing that if you build it, they will come.

And of course, you're always welcome out L.A. way.

Let us know if you have any questions we can help you with.

and I can already see from the rsvp's that there's a couple of members I'd like to touch base with.

sooo, networkin' in the rain... that's a song, isn't it?

btw, ya can't miss me, I'm the tall guy with the big smile!

I went to a couple Biznik events up in Seattle before also and they had a great vibe to them. Nice to finally see enough people in the LA area now to get some events together.

Right on, Justin. Glad there will be someone else there who has witnessed the magic in person. (Although I believe we have another former Seattleite coming, as well.)

dang, I hated to miss this! pesky client meeting ran way too long and I was sure everyone had bailed by the time I could've made it.

looks like an intelligent bunch too!

it'd be sure be great to hear about some of the 'super useful info' highlights...

    thanks for puttin' it together!

    next one... I'm there.

Heather, Alaia, Linda - Thanks again for coming out. I know it's always a bit of a hassle to get in your car and go somewhere, but I'm really pleased with the way this first event went. Looking forward to the next one, and hope you are, too!

Rick - Hey, it happens. The idea is for these to become an ongoing thing, and also (LOOK, MA--FULL TRANSPARENCY!) to encourage other people to start setting up their own events. Pop over to the Seattle network for a taste of how it can work. They've got events going every day of the week--multiple events, with all kinds of focuses or lack thereof!

I'm guessing it'll be pretty hard to recap specifically what people took away, since there were so many conversations going over the course of the evening. But if anyone writes about it on a blog or something, please post back here on the thread to let us know!
