Do you have an innovative business idea? Ready to start but don't know where to begin? Have ideas galore but no plan to make them real?
The Innovative business startup process, is a different approach to planning a business. Most planning tries to reduce risks of failure by structuring as much as possible. Agile was developed for dealing with situations where change is the norm, Agile doesn't try to plan away but plans for change.
Starting a business is all about taking on risk. How you deal with that risk should vary depending on what kind of business you are starting.
In this event we will walk though the Innovative business startup process. A process based on the Agile Software development process.
We will walk through the entire process from the first day of your business idea through your multiple launches and on to Operationalizing your business.
Most planning tries to reduce risk of failure by structuring and planning as much as possible as far as possible out into the future. This approach to planning reduces risk by removing variation or change. But this doesn't always work for innovative business startups. You may be in the early stages of your business and you don't know what your exact product will look like, you don't know exactly who your target market is. You may not know exactly what marketing will work best (if you don't know your target yet you can't know how to market to them). Your idea is innovative and so you need a planning approach that is designed for innovative companies.
For example if you have a great business idea plan it all out, do lots of market research and invest a lot of money developing it and then launch with great expectations and the market rejects your product. In this case your risk was actually increased by trying to plan it all out and launch in one fell swoop. Agile uses short development cycles and multiple little releases to reduce risk and ensure success.
This event is for Big thinkers who want to start something significant, innovative, and powerful.

This looks GREAT!! Since it is full, can we pre-register for the next one?
If anyone drops out I would like to attend. Or register for the next one.
Thanks
I am looking at dates for the next one.
would Memorial day be an option for folks?
Thanks Joseph
I'd like to go to the next one & bring one of my colleagues - memorial day a.m. okay.
I'm sorry, I am out of town for memorial day.
Memorial Day is good for me.
I had to move this event to Saturday from 12-1. Some people may drop. so keep checking back.
Peace Joseph
Sorry, cannot do Saturday, Memorial Weekend...kids etc..
I understand
I originally RSVP'd then noticed that its the Saturday, not Monday... plus its the WIFE'S BIRTHDAY. Figure the odds. :-)
Well I guess you should spend time with your wife rather than come to the event ;-)
I will do another soon.
"When the Student is Ready, The Teacher Will Come."
Looking forward to it!
Is the time settled now? Today at 5?
The EVENT is on for SATURDAY at 12-1
Biznik applied an update last night that caused some schedule problems They are fixing it but it affected other people's events as well.
See you Saturday
Sorry, the site still won't let me un-RSVP. Can't make it :-(
Not sure what happened - the site has me down as going though I sent an email sending I could not make the new time. Hopefully it went well and I look forward to making the next one. Cannot make Memorial Day.
thanks Joseph, that was useful.
OK, to quote my ten-year-old, "When's the next one?" :-)
Thanks for the event & content, Joseph! Some useful & applicable information on Agile, and how to use it in a small business.
