Event description
Interested in learning why everyone's talking about Twitter? This seminar will give you a comprehensive introduction to Twitter, one of today's hottest Web 2.0 social media technologies.
In our two hour seminar you'll see first-hand how to get started with Twitter! Additional topics will include:
How it works, who is using it and how it's being used
Twitter's advantages over other types of communication
Current trends and what they mean for business
Using Twitter to make an impact
What is Twitter?
Twitter is a new "micro-blogging" technology: part blog, part instant message - allowing users to send out short messages that can be read through websites, desktop applications or mobile devices.
It has all the characteristics of other successful Web 2.0 social networking technologies: free, easy to use, lets people network and share, works best when you invite all your friends, can be used to brand or promote, and it integrates with a number of other Web 2.0 services like Facebook and Joint Contact.
Originally intended as a fun way to keep in touch with friends by answering the question, "What are you doing?" Twitter has quickly evolved into a multi-faceted communications platform that could have a dramatic impact on how you promote and manage your business.
Who Should Attend
Those interested in learning about Twitter / Web 2.0 / social media and how they can be used to help promote and manage their business.
Our material is designed for people who are new to Twitter, but we address questions that apply to all types of businesses and all levels of social media experience, including privacy and security.

Sep 05, 2008 I'm looking forward to learning more specifically about how Twitter can be useful for small business. I'm a Twitter user, but have to admit I haven't seen the return on time investment yet. So you've got my attention!

Sep 08, 2008 I have the same experience as Dan - using it but not really understanding how to make it work to any kind of advantage. I'm booking a babysitter right now so I won't miss out!

Sep 10, 2008 Wayne & Mark - thanks for your presentation yesterday. I have a much better understanding of Twitter and a better understanding of how blogging as well as Twitter can improve our online presence. Now the hard part, making the time to get started.

Sep 10, 2008 Yes, I agree that this session was very useful. There is no quick fix, but at least we now understand the tool.
And I have to admit that after using Twitter only a few months, it is a heck of a lot faster and easier than blogging.

Sep 10, 2008 Thanks to this class, I feel like I know how to use Twitter in a way that makes sense to me: I'm going to use it to drive traffic to great content on Biznik.com. Every time there's a great new article, great new event (like this one), or great discussion happening, I'll send a quick comment with a link to Twitter. The time investment is minimal, and I agree with Carol - it's a heck of a lot faster than writing a blog post.

Sep 10, 2008 I think you hit the nail on the head, Dan - aka @biznik.
Using Twitter to drive traffic and provide real, valuable information to your followers does not take that much time, and yet it gives you and your website greater visibility. It establishes you as a resource, and it helps to keep you "top-of-mind" with your followers.
Twitter isn't perfect, but it certainly has all the characteristics of a great Web 2.0 social media marketing tool.
