Event description

In preparing this Event, we want to make this a real dialogue. In order to discuss inventions (cheap, simple or not), there are some real things a budding inventor needs to know like...

What's the difference between a copyright and a patent? Which one do you need and why?

There are thousands of patents on Inventions that will never see the market, let alone make any money. How do you separate them and decide what's market worthy?

What's licensing and royalties? Is there a right time to sell?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with creating and licensing a potential product. I know of one independent and one internal example like that, but as an independent, small business entrepreneur, you need to know the choices that will work with your idea and the steps you can take to create, document, submit and sell and make money (supplemental, primary or secondary income). There are guidelines and many levels of what it takes, but every invention has it's own timetable. It can come in a month or years of trial and error.

I will share experiences with my own invention and others I have worked on as well as what options are open when someone steals your idea - which brings me to the Patent Reform being voted on in the Senate. There's a lot more to this now than any time before. The real risk could force the innovators out and put corporations in position to benefit. Priya will bring us up to date on this.

So bring your ideas, dreams, and inventions to this meeting. You get the whole picture, the inside and the legal side of Inventions.

BTW I want to alert any and all that the upstairs is through the gray door in the alley. We'll see you there.
