With the big winter storm predicted for Saturday through Sunday, lets hope we still have power and drivable roads on Tuesday.

Yeah Bob, I haven't been out since I was at the last lunch on Tuesday! We'll see how it goes, but I don't drive in the snow.

Cassandra - I can always come and pick you up.

Everyone - Since the big winter storm didn't come and steal away our power we are still a go at least as of Sunday evening.

Bob -- if I can make it up the hill tomorrow, I'll be there! I have another vehicle w 4WD, so it's likely that I'll be there.

How is Juanita Drive on the hill? Should I chain up, even w/ 4WD? I may pick up a pizza for Tues night dinner, too .... :-)

Hi there - I just wanted to make a comment on the name of this event. I received the email about this, read "upper Eastside" and thought "how did I end up on the NYC mailing list?". Now I see you mean Bothell and surrounds. May I offer the term 'Northend' or 'North Eastside'? As an area native, I can't say I've ever heard anyone call Bothell (for ex) the Upper Eastside or Renton (for ex) the Lower Eastside. Just my $0.02.

Hi Alison, I think it's a great new indie term for our area. Because it really is "upper eastside".

Bob, doesn't look like I'm gonna make it unless we get a fast melt.

Victoria and the rest of you adventuresome souls - the main roads are plowed and OK - a lot of 2wd cars making it up and down the hill today.

To the snowbound - hope to see you when the snow is gone

Alison - We've kicked around what to call this area. Yes to those form NY, I understand that the "Upper Eastside" means something else.

Northend always implies Bitter Lake, Haler Lake, Lake City, Shoreline. North Eastside would probably be as equally confusing as Upper Eastside. North Lake is already taken for North of Lake Union, but would have worked for the North End of Lake WA.

This is getting some attention - maybe it will stick and we'll have a new general area. No Lower Eastside is really needed - is Renton even considered Eastside?

Even though my family has ties with Bothell from the 1890's I am on Finn Hill with a Bothell address and Kirkland / Kenmore addresses 3 blocks South and North, respectively. Bothell doesn't work well, we are not in Kenmore nor Kirkland. This confused area needs some type of identity for everything north of Redmond and Bellevue.

    Juanita - Bob.

Hey, that is so cool that your family has been here since the 1890's!

Cassandra - Juanita only covers the south part of this hill - this area is so confusing LOL

I am going to have to cancel tomorrow, We ventured out a little today and the Mountlake Terrace area is really snowed in! We have about 18" and the only streets that are cleared are the main ones. Looks like clear skies tonight so it will be a cold one! I have already RSVP'd for next week, looking forwartd to seeing you all.
PS I kind of like the upper eastside! L

I'll have to pass on this one. Haven't gotten to much work due to the snow and all. I'm sure mid-westerners think we're insane. At any rate, I'll shoot for one of your future lunches.

    Cheers,

    Phil

Well, we went out tonight and the roads are not great in our area. I won't be making it. Everyone have a good time and have a Merry Xmas. See you next week. Sans snow!

boo hiss! I'm going to have to cancel - I'm double-booked for tomorrow, a patient is coming in. Perhaps I'll come by afterwards, I still want pizza for dinner (and I have friends coming over to spend the night - they fly out of SeaTac Wednesday morning). Gotta feed the hungry guests!
