Event description

Biznik, Colleen Wainwright, writer, blogger, designer, actress and Communicatrix extraordinaire, is in Seattle for a few weeks, so I am hosting a Seattle-style welcome to a Biznik from LA. Come on downtown to Purple Cafe and Wine Bar. Their menu is to die for and the wall of wine is stunning.

Colleen will be also be speaking at Howard Howell's Author-Publisher Roundtable this month. If you can't come to the roundtable, don't miss out on this chance to meet her.

Wednesday afternoon schmoozing is a terrific way to break up the work week! Come for a drink. Stay for dinner. Meet a fascinating person from far away; meet fascinating people from nearby.

We will be in the UPSTAIRS bar, lolling on the little couches scattered about the room. The space holds about 50 people, and fills up early, so plan ahead if you can and get there early.

Cheers!

Holy cats! I can't believe all you nice people are coming out to welcome me to your fair city!

Then again, I couldn't believe it when Suzanne said she'd pull this shindig together.

    Seattle Freeze, my Aunt Fanny!

Well, this is my first event and I figured I'd make a little splash with an internet celebrity (hee!hee!).

We are, I think, a very friendly city. The combination of native northwesterners and east coast transplants has created a cosmopolitan mix of good energy and savvy creativity (and midwest and southeast and southwest and mid-atlantic and...).

    Cheers!

I may be just a little late as I have an appointment that can't be moved. Is this OK? Please advise. Thanks so much.

Melinda - Of course! This is a mixer - purely a social format. Put on your name tag when you get there and start talking with folks. Cheers! Suzanne

Man, I hate to miss this! I've had blogging interactions with Colleen and feel that I already know her. Ferry issues again. Hmmm, maybe it's time to move back to the mainland.

    Have a great time, everyone.

I was there at the bar, a little late, but saw no one with name tags. How did I miss you guys?

There were so many of us, we ended up taking over a couple of long line of tables in the restaurant, in the back against a wall. Many of us stayed til 8:30. So sorry we missed you, Susan!

What a great event. I met some wonderful people and had some fantastic conversations. I think we should try to get another event together at Purple and reserve the back room this time.

Well, I was floored by it all: the amazing turnout, the beautiful views, the fun I had meeting everyone. Thank you to everyone who came and a big, mega-normous shout-out to Suzanne, who pulled this thing together.

WOW, I wish I could have found you guys. I saw no name tags? Please let me know when you have another event here. Will you be doing another event in the area before you leave Seattle?

I had such a great time. Thanks so much for hosting this, Suzanne and Colleen. I got to know some great people and had inspiring talks. It seemed so easy to connect. The "elevator speech" becomes a whole new meaning..

There was definitely a sparkle in the air.

Melinda - I'm doing one event with Dan a week from Friday - October 17. And Suzanne lives here! Now that she's proven such an amazing hostess, I think we can expect more on the horizon from her.

Ingrid - It was lovely meeting you. And it is easy to connect when no one has an agenda (other than, you know, connecting.) Everyone was super low-key and just into meeting everyone else. Ergo, event excellence.

Thank you all for exceeding my hopes and expectations for my first event! Such a fantastic and interesting group of bizniks really made the event fun.

Thanks Colleen for lettiing us show you the real Seattle, and thanks to everyone for coming out.

This was so much fun, and so easy, I will definitely plan another one soon.

    Cheers!

In addition to the event called, "Low-to-No-Cost Marketing Using Social Media and Good, Old Common Sense", that Colleen is co-hosting with Dan on Friday, October 17, Colleen is also a guest speaker at one of Howard Howell's events the day before on October 16, called, "Author-Publisher Roundtable".

Wow what a great gathering of interesting people. I consider it successful when I hit it off with one great contact but last night far exceeded that number. I met so many fun people and grateful for it and for meeting the very bright and funny Suzanne. Looking forward to reconnecting with you again....you know who you are. Patricia
