Event description

Join Seattle's small business community for an inspired evening of networking at Moe Bar - the bar connected to Neumos - part lounge, part night venue, and the new home of Biznik's monthly happy hour event where members mix Biznik with pleasure.

This Third Tuesday event is generally the largest Biznik business networking event of the month, and a great introduction to Biznik. Everybody's friendly and casual, there's a full bar with happy hour specials just for us, and dinner can ordered from the Pike Street Fish Fry menu.

The event officially runs to 8, but Moe's is open all night and DJs come on each Thursday at 9pm if you want to make a night of it.

This month our Happy Hour falls on the night of President-elect Obama's Inauguration. Moe's has TVs and they'll be on. What better way to ring in this historic moment than amongst your peers inside your community.

The Moe Bar and Neumos is owned by Biznik member, Steven Severin.

Wish I could be here--sounds like a blast. But we're having an Inauguration Dance Party at our house, so that's where I'll be. It will be a great night wherever we are!

I got my 1.20.09 Obama shirt in the mail today from MoveOn, so I know what I'll be wearing to this event.

AH! I don't know what to do with myself... Would love to go however, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to bring my other half... Let me know. I can't imagine not sharing this moment with him! -Kammie

Ah, we don't want you half there, Kammie! Your other half is totally welcome. We of course invite your other halfness to add a profile (it's free so the punishment is not too bad)...but we'll meet you halfway by not requiring it for this event.

Sweet! ;) I'm not sure too many people would be interested in purchasing airplane parts... That's what my better half does. He makes airplane parts. Anyway thank you! This is such a historic event and I can't tell you how excited I am to celebrate this moment with you all! See you Tuesday!

This sounds like a great event ... I went ahead and RSVP-ed ... however, I also have to let you know that I am with a client later in the afternoon and it may be a long session ... but my intention is to be there!

I'm sure that many of us will be staying much later than 8pm, David. See you when you get there.

The end of an era.....Can we do it today?

Today is great for me. I'll even push Michelle aside and hold the silly book myself.

Likely be late, have to be on the eastside till late afternoon.

This sounds like a great time. Will 100+ people fit in the venue??

  • Dan McComb
Posted by Dan McComb, Seattle, Washington | Jan 20, 2009

Yeah we can fit this many...I HOPE! If not, we can always take to the streets like we did at Moe Bar on the night of the election.

Wow, how will all these people fit there... This might be a little too crowded for my taste...

I'm missing it! My day ran long and I'm going to have to celebrate in Carnation.

Dan and Lara, I suspect my nice google ranking (which you have lots to do with) may account for the interview I got today with Newsweek! They contacted me to get quotes for a story and the reporter wasn't sure how hey found me.... The same thing happened last week. Biznik has raised my visibility - Thank-you!

Tonight, however, I am very invisible. Hope you are all having a blast.

Unfortunately it doesn't look as though I'll make it there before the evening is over, but I will look forward to the next one, even though it won't be Inauguration Day then.

I made it all the way to the door of Moe's only to discover I had no ID.

See you guys at the next one.

Had a great time, and re-connected with some of my new acquaintances from the past month of Biznik activity, as well as making new ones. Folks are really friendly. I have a place in mind, Cellars, that has a great bar, live latin music on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I would be happy to check with the owner to see if we can do a happy hour there.

Great event - great evening! Looks like me may need a larger venue to accommodate the number of people attracted to this monthly event. Stay tuned and throw out ideas, if you have them.

  • Howard Howell

Lara... I thought it was a great event for connections. My only comment is the difficulty to talk to people over the loud music. Maybe it's an old-timer thing, although the guy at door "carded" me. That's quite a compliment to a 62 year old. ...Howard

  • Sherri Edwards
Posted by Sherri Edwards, Seattle, Washington | Jan 22, 2009

Lara.. I agree with Howard. Enjoyed the opportunity to meet people, but left sooner than I had planned because I was hoarse from trying to talk over the din. Larger venue- yes. A little quieter- yes.

Thanks for your efforts to pull this off!

What? WHAT!?!? [Still can't hear]. I mean, I can rock with the best of them (even for an old guy!), but Moe's was definitely NOT a good place for "getting to know you". Loud music, nothing on the inauguration but the Prez. and Michelle doing the same dance over and over and over. I met some good people, but it was dark, noisy, crowded (which is a good thing).

Here's a concept... what about a place like one of the microbreweries, where we could play "meet up" games and move from table to table... or at least have more light (I'm thinking Red Hook in Woodinville, but that might be too far... but some place LIKE that!). What about the Mosaic coffee house... that's spread out really nicely, lots of light...

And, ya know, being a writer from Wisconsin, I wouldn't mind havin' one of dem der potlucks once, doncha know! ;-) In any case... thanks for putting it together! Dave Kuhns, writer/editor http://www.geocities.com/dgkuhns
