Looking forward to hangin' with you guys on St. Patty's day! Was it if you're Irish wear something green, or if you're not Irish? I am ashamed to admit I don't remember, being of Irish descent.
Networking in West Seattle
Hosted by Valerie Farris in West Seattle, Washington
When: Monday, March 17 7:00 PM
Fee: Free
Event description
Come on out and enjoy an evening of relaxed networking in a great atmosphere. The Beveridge Place Pub serves a gazillion beers, so there's something for everyone. They also allow you to bring/order food in from anywhere, so Pagliacci's, the Greek place across the street, whatever - pick your fancy and bring it on in!
For West Seattle folks, this is a chance to meet and greet in your own backyard. For those from farther afield, an introduction to a wonderful beer pub in a new (to you, perhaps) neighborhood, as well as some local Bizniks.
Bring your business cards, but leave your business attire at home - come comfy, settle in on a barstool or a couch, play some cards, shoot some darts, or just kick back and drink to the coming weekend!
17 Bizniks attended this event

Unfortunately looks like I have to miss this one due to scheduling conflict. I was really looking forward to meeting more West Seattle folks, so will plan for the next meeting. Thanks Valerie.

Okay, I did a few minutes of research and found out that the color green in Ireland is now considered bad luck.
• In the United States, it's customary to wear green on St. Patrick's Day. But in Ireland the color was long considered to be unlucky, says Bridget Haggerty, author of The Traditional Irish Wedding and the Irish Culture and Customs Web site.
As Haggerty explains, Irish folklore holds that green is the favorite color of the Good People (the proper name for faeries). They are likely to steal people, especially children, who wear too much of the color.
Separate Article... School children have started a little tradition of their own. They pinch classmates who don't wear green on this holiday. Wearing green is strictly a U.S. custom, as the color green is not popular in Ireland. Green is connected to the old green flag and a time when Ireland was not free. Green is also a color connected with hope and nature.
So, hmmmm.

I think we should declare the pub a "pinch free zone" for this event!
Also, I should probably mention that it will be rather busy (ahem), so if anyone else is able to make it early (I'll arrive around 6pm) to start holding tables, that would be great! Otherwise, we'll likely have to catch-as-catch-can and deal with standing room only!

I should be able to get there in between 6-6:30pm, so no worries! Unless I get lost!

Bridget, it's super easy to get there!
From the WEst Seattle Bridge, take the bridge until it ends at a light - go straight through the light. Continue straight until the road Ys...veer left at the Y to stay on Fauntleroy. Follow Fauntleroy until you come to the intersection with California Ave. If you're sitting at that red light, the pub is across the street on the right hand side, one door north of the corner business...which happens to be called "On the Corner."
If anyone has trouble finding it, take my cell number 206.852.9067 and give me a call!

Hi, Valerie,
I may have to put my kiddo to bed first before heading out, but I really want to come, especially since a dear yoga guru of mine (hi, Kat!) will be there, too!

Shannon - I hope you can make it! We'll be the ones with the nametags on. :) Or, you can just ask one of the bartender's where Rob's sister is - my brother works there.
Best,
Valerie
P.S. Good luck for us - the Biznik nametags have green on them! lol
