Event description

What would happen if we filled a room with incredible BizNik members, networked, sampled fine food and beverages for happy hour prices all while supporting a great cause? We’d like to find out and see. We invite you to our first Networking with a Cause Happy Hour. Each month we will gather at a venue to do some business, meet new friends/business associates and support some of our favorite charitable organizations.

It’s simple to attend. Just gather some couch change, latte money or more along with your business cards and sparkling personality. At the end of the night, we will cut a check from all the donations to the nonprofit of the month on behalf of the BizNik Business Community. All donations are tax-deductible. This is a great opportunity for all of us to bond together and make a difference in our world

April Cause of the Month – Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA)
Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are known together as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are painful, medically incurable illnesses that attack the digestive system. It is estimated that over 1.4 million Americans have IBD, however many more suffer in silence. The cause of IBD remains unknown. However, the effectiveness of recently developed treatment methods and steady advances in research brings us closer every day to finding the cause and probable cure of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. In 2007, The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America provided more than $127 million for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis research, ran over 300 active support groups for those battling IBD, and sent over 950 children with Crohn's and colitis to Camp Oasis - a IBD supportive camp community. Your donation is important! To find out more about CCFA, please visit their web site at http://www.ccfa.org

What are you passionate about? Arts, Education, Health, Social Services or the Environment? Let us know and we will plan to honor and support your cause in the upcoming months. We will also be making time at these events to connect with people who share your non-profit passions.

How about American Cancer Society Relay for Life?
Ask me how to get involved. I am looking for Survivors to come join me in the victory opening lap at Greenlake Relay for Life. Also looking for support, volunteers and teams.

I looking forward to meeting everyone an attending this very charitable event! Thanks for the invite Carol.

Thanks for the great ideas! Keep them coming. We hope that at this and future events, we can come together to find ways to build our nonprofits efforts and passions into our businesses. For example, my business gives 1% of annual revenues to environmental and social justices causes. It is something that I truly believe in and I think my customers are appreciative of.

    An option for ulcerative colitis.

    http://www.davidwheeler.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=MPS1&Category_Code=drwheel&Store_Code=drwheeler

This product will help with these issues.

The problem with our food is it is so processed that we miss the natural enzymes and sugar molecules. This causes these diseases.

This product brings these missing items back into our food.

Let me know if this group exists.

Healers who already have the answers. Most health solutions are supplements. They don't get the recognition because they take care of diseases in months....and there is not much money for people who need lots of profit.

Pharmaceuticals, hospitals, and medical doctors support the other "side effect" products. There is no end here. Too much money to be made.

If there is a non-profit group that has the power to promote holistic products...I'm over here.

I imagine there are non-profit groups out there that support holistic medicine. I encourage you to come to our event and meet with others who share a passion for supporting holistic medicine causes. While we will be honoring different organizations each month, the overall goal of the event is to have a chance to meet up with others who might share some of your non-profit causes and passions and explore ways in which you can increase awareness through your business.

I can't make this event since I've already got something booked for my work, but I'd love it if you'd consider putting FEAR Project in as one of the future charities. You can learn more about it at http://www.FearProject.org where you can also see some of our multimedia documentary clips.

Great idea to put together this group/event!

What a great event and great idea to benefit different charities! I have another commitment and likely won't make this one.

About the "cause" - I had UC for many years; after 3 different doctors/specialists and years of suffering, I started looking further for resources that could help. I've been medication free for 11 years now, and mostly symptom-free too.

Happy to share with anyone who has UC and wants to chat, perhaps something I've learned would be useful or encouraging to them.

I really enjoyed this event, given the soft-spot in my heart for nonprofits. It was interesting to learn about CCFA--an organization that I had previously not known. And of course, I met some fascinating new Bizniks and learned about their businesses. Great job, Tracy, Robert, and Carol. I look forward to more cause events in the future.
