Event description

Are you committed to women, so committed your business is devoted to serving them? Would you like to build a strong, supportive network with other entrepreneurs who share your passion?

Power Chicks Networking is a monthly event designed for those who want to network with women. Like the Power Chicks group itself, it’s based on my belief that we can support one another in unique, positive and powerful ways.

Together, we can make connections that will enhance both our professional and personal lives.

You’ll come away with:

• New relationships sparked & established ones, renewed

• A sense of community with women who share your passions

• Connections to help you grow your business

What we’ll do:

1) Start with introductions all around

2) Break into small groups and chat about specific questions such as: What’s your story? What inspires you to do what you do? What’s your biggest struggle right now? How can we help you?

3) End with a half-hour or so of open mingling, giving you a chance to meet, talk and network with everyone you want.

Designed for Power Chicks but open to all!

Not sure what the Power Chicks are all about? Click on the "Groups" tab and find us at the top of the list. We'd love to have you join us!

    Hi Lynn,

I fully understand. I will not be able to make it as I am hosting an event in Marysville at 4. That is cutting it close with driving time. I'll catch the next one.

Thanks Lynn and everyone - looking forward to meeting you in the real world too! :)

Since I bet you're all waaaay ahead of me on this one (I'm so slow to the social marketing phenomenon! ;), I just discovered this site for women entrepreneurs and thought you might be interested in adding profiles there too (no, I don't work for them or anything, just stumbled on the site last week by accident - so this is not a plug, haha!) I'll link to it below (Savor the Success) so you can see an example of how I maxed out the image uploads and they automatically made them into a nice little postage stamp template, something I haven't been able to organize that easily in all the years of having my art website, aaaaah! :)

So while it's seemingly simple it just totally changed my life by organizing my portfolio of 17+ years' worth of images into one simple little format. My goodness. Maybe some little twist, some little new free tool, can help get you to the next levels with your business too?

There's also this Google Slideshow docs application I found yesterday on LinkedIn (or do a search to set it up separately) where you can do an online powerpoint slideshow without needing to buy the Microsoft application.

Mine's pretty goofy while I'm learning all this, but I just included a little sampler slideshow here on my new WordPress page (thank you, Chris Ely!) requesting to partner with marketing geniuses (genii?) to find a way to generate royalties for us both from the library of images and characters I have available for license. Okay so my little beginner slide show is kinda lame (plenty of time to be perfect later :) :) :) but maybe it'll spark some ideas for you in terms of new formats for your message too?

Anyway, hope it's okay to include that here as some new tools that I just happily discovered in case it can benefit others.

Again, just feel free to look at my stuff as just examples of what we can do with these formats, okay? Otherwise I'd be way more shy, haha! Thanks!

Looking forward to meeting you and learning from you! :)

    Best, Michiko

I love Biznik's new feature - they have a "waiting list," so be sure to put your name on it. If there's an opening, you get an email telling you to RSVP.

I just got into an event that was jam-packed this way. Try it, and I hope to see you!

    Warmly, Lynn

I just got a note that there is room for me at the 8-25 event. Can I officially say "yes" now? Please confirm. Thank you!

    Nancy,

When I was on a waiting list and got The Note, I had to immediately RSVP for the event. Did you do that? Because it looks like now, the event is again full. Shoot!

I think you'll need to get back on the waiting list. Perhaps something will open up; there's still nearly a week before the event.

Would love to see you there, Nancy!

Are you able to just up the room attendance perhaps?

This is so cool - we can all synchronize our cycles together! (KIDDING)

Hope you're each having a great morning meantime!

Looking forward to seeing you all there - thanks for creating this, Lynn!

    Best, Michiko

Ha - your comment is a hoot!

I've done Power Chick networking events like this before. The room gets overpowering loud with a larger group (I think last time there were around 25.) That's why I'm holding the number down. : )

    Good idea, though!

P.S. I had a biz idea for you. Remind me on Tues., and I'll tell you about it.

A couple of you have mentioned receiving notices that there is an opening, because you're on a waiting list.

If this happens to you - go PRONTO to the event page and RSVP! If you don't sign up immediately, someone else may notice it and sign up.

These meetings have filled up astonishingly fast. I'm sorry there's not more room; I'm brainstorming ways and locations where I can do a similar event but with a much bigger group.

If any of you have ideas - please give a shout out! You can either post it here, or send me an email.

    Thanks!

    I have it solved.

We'll just clone Lynn and hold the event in two different rooms simultaneously.

Oh wait - your clone would still be an infant (or a zygote) by the time of the event. Shoot.

Okay, 25 max makes total sense, sorry about that. Please don't anyone take hits out on me to get my spot, I am really looking forward to this. In appeasement, I can take notes for anyone not in attendance (ummm, if you dare to read my carpel tunnel handwriting :).

Lynn, of course can't wait to hear your business idea. What a tantalizing cliff-hanger!

Hope everyone here has a great weekend meantime, and thank you again for getting us all fired up! :)

    • Michiko

Total sidenote to the group (sorry!) I'm supposed to design some posters for a Milan competition around high-end Italian shoe design by this Sunday. At the risk of compleeetely stereotyping us women (does this make me sexist??:), I would welcome anyone who wants to email me snapshots of your favorite Italian Dolce & Gabbana etc. Sex & the City-esque designer shoes to my michiko @ michiko (dot)com address today and if I have enough time before Sunday's deadline I can try and work your favorite shoe proposal sketches into the contest, no guarantees it'll win, but.... :). I wear mechanic's boots and flipflops usually and would certainly appreciate the inspiration to get drawing today - hehe!

(Okay, umm, I don't want to distract from the topic at hand and don't want to presume any of us are interested in shoes shoes shoes so back to you, Lynn! :)

wow- sounds like a popular event. I'm hoping a spot will open up. I'm a nutritionist and seems like there could be some power partners in the mix!

I'll see if I can upgrade to get on the waiting list.

    thanks, Mary

    Dear Lynn,

Thanks for putting this together. It was really neat to meet a lot on new Biznik members and business owners. It seemed like we had a lot in common - y'know POWER? LOVE the Power Chicks!

And Lynn, something to consider. Since you had a limit of 25, and there were some no shows (things happen), maybe overbooking this event would not be a bad idea. One enterprising Chick - Susanna, just came down anyway when she saw an opening. Maybe a way to work this out somehow.
