Event description

NOTE: the Google map above is not accurate.

Directions to Location:
Exit 266 and go West off I-5.
Grandview RD crosses Holeman Avenue and becomes Koehn RD.
Where the Koehn public road ends, there is a parking lot on the left. It's not obvious because it's a new county park.

Pt. Whitehorn says they are in Ferndale, WA 98248, but I know houses out that way are listed as Blaine, WA 98230.

Enjoy the amazing 3/4 mile trail through forest wetlands to the majestic pebbled beach of Pt Whitehorn. This new marine reserve was a partnership of Whatcom County and the Whatcom Land Trust and as a sanctuary, no pets are allowed. You will hear and see birds and wonderful flora fauna along the way. Easy flat trail with steep incline to the beach at the end.

Bring a drink to share and some nibbles. We'll spread out ideas on a log and soak up the sunset and sound of waves splashing.

To get there, take Grandview (exit 266) west off I-5. Keep going until it takes a 90-degree turn to the left and becomes Koehn Rd. The park is on the left. Let's be green and carpool so let others know on the notes below if you can take a body or two.

This a NEW Park so the map is not all that great. Directions above are easy. Grandview turns into Koehn and you just go to the end...nice big sign on your left. Trailhead starts at the parking lot. Only one porta potty for the desparate!

This is such a beautiful new park. I wish I could join you all, but I will be doing the Whatcom Artist Studio Tour that day from 10-5. Come by my studio before you go out for the walk...

It will be great to see this new park. I'm located just off Grandview myself (although east of I-5). See you there.

Hi Elke and Robert, Hope you can both make it. I'll try and find a better map to link...this one is way off. Directions above are best. Head for the water off Grandview and smell the salt air!

Hi Trina, I so look forward to meeting you and Raymond...did you move to Ferndale? That's quite close to the event. We have some really great spots here to explore. Til the 10th!

I look forward to meeting everyone. I'm in Sumas, but I'll be coming via the Fort Langley Cranberry Festival. (http://www.cranberryfest.ca/) I'm bogged down in getting my business started, so I thought I might as well make it a cranberry bog. ;)

It sounds really nice, but I'm just wondering why it is so late in the day. It's starts getting chilly late in the day. I'd much rather walk, sit and chat while its warm and sunny out (hopefully it will be sunny). Why not have it like 2-4pm instead?

Pat, bring a cranberry treat--after all biznik events are about promoting your business?

Roxanne, That's the best time for low tide and exploring. Bring a jacket! You'll be amazed.

Susan, cranberries aren't part of my business (although I WAS thinking of bringing something to eat or drink from there :) I just thought it might be an interesting photo op.

If city folks want to car pool we could meet at the Lakeway Fred Meyer's parking lot? Just say the word.

I'm so excited that we have a good number coming along on this wonderful walk. The windswept beach is the reward after a magical stroll though the forest...expect eagles and woodpeckers to swoop past...can't wait!

I'm so sorry I won't be able to make it! My family is coming into town... it's not too often they get to visit so I'm happy to be able to spend time with them. Have a beautiful event!

Oh bummer, Naomi. We are hoping the low tide will reveal it's mysteries on this one. Next time and tide then!

Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday, including our two guests, Matt and Carol. What a wonderful break and chance to meet new people in our Biznik circle in such a setting: exemplary of why we all choose to live here. I'll check the lower tides and post another event before November.

Pat: looking forward to a couple of event photos from you---how about our ritual beach structure shot?

Wow! This place was even more beautiful than expected. And a perfect day for it. Golden turning leaves against clear blue sky to one side and glittering peaceful water on the other. What a lovely backdrop for grounded and real connection with other participants. Many thanks to Susan and all who attended.

Hi all, I have posted an event at this location for NEW YEAR's EVE. Why? What a spot to see the fireworks at a distance (both directions) and night stars. I hope the Parks Dept will let us...it's going to be an unusually LOW tide that night so all will be revealed (if darik)...hoping for permission to have a bonfire too...marshmallows and good clean fun anyone?
