Event description

(I had to change the date to Sunday the 20th. My mother is going to surprise me by coming to Seattle for Mother's Day weekend. It's all hush hush so don't tell anyone I know.)

In the Uptown Espresso meeting room:

Do you want to turn your web site into a marketing machine? Grab a cup of coffee or tea then join the conversation.

Hosted by Tom Schmitz of SEOcritique.com and search engine optimization analyst at Portent Interactive, Search Marketing Coffee is part tutorial, part discussion and part group therapy. Share your project, ask questions, collaborate....it's all geared toward improving your visibility, search rankings, visitor count and conversions.

Bring your laptops if you got 'em. If you have a specific topic you would like covered in this edition of Search Marketing Coffee you can email info@SEOcritique.com.

We'll keep going until the conversation runs out or the laptop battery dies, whichever comes first.

Thomas's events are really awesome. Here's a video clip from his last public appearance, at Ignite Seattle:

I will not be waving my arms as wildly at Search Marketing Coffee.

If you get us all to wave them at the same time with you, it would be a great demonstration of the piranha effect, don't you think?

    Tom,

I love that you can post the fact that you know your mom is coming to surprise you on an international community website while still keeping it a secret from her.

I really do want to thank your mother, Thomas. Because of her I might be able to make it to your event. Of course, I won't tell her that I know anything about her visit :)

I just have to check with my family first and I'll register

Two birthdays, helping a friend move, a spin jam, and a work deadline--I had to cancel. Quick! Someone jump on the last spot left.

Head's up to all of you who'd like to attend this event but can't because it's full: I'm going to be recording the whole thing on video, which I'm going to post to the web, and make available to supporting members on this event page. It's kind of an experiment to see how many people are interested in viewing events this way. The size and approximate quality of the video will be about like the one at the bottom of this talk list, which was from Thomas's session at Ignite Seattle. I look forward to hearing what you think about this little adventure into posting video along with events.

I like the idea of Biznik training video, but less so on the meeting video aspects.

I think there are plenty of valuable things that could be on video, but that doing meetings detracts from the live interaction. That has always been the case with video conferencing (i.e. many people change attitude and demeanor when they know they are on video.)

Doing the meeting portion of Biznik also seems like it would produce a lot of irrelevant footage.

However I think there are plenty of expert video clips out there that Biznik could model after and provide on the site.

Arrrgh! I can not make it today. I am glad that Dan will be recording, but nothing beats being there live!

I've got all the video of this event, and it turned out great. However, it turns out that the size of two hours of video is preventing me from posting it. I'm working on a solution and will post something here when I've got it resolved. It weighs in a 300 mb, even after compressing, and that's three times larger than any of the free services will accept. I could split it into three separate videos, but will see if I can figure out a way to avoid doing that. Stay tuned.
