Event description
NOTE NEW TIME & LOCATION! _6_pm instead of 7 at Elysian Fields by the stadiums.
This event is a shout out to all the other SEO professionals, business owners and other professionals in the greater Puget Sound who think they could gain from some face-to-face networking talking about possibly the most efficient form of marketing in history.
SEO Topic This month Tracey Warren of Ready Set Grow Marketing will be exploring "Searchal" - where search and social meet...and how they aren't mutually exclusive.
Many might argue that getting found online is all about Google rankings and getting good SEO. What many SEOs and marketers may not understand is the role that Social Media plays in helping make that happen. At this meetup we will talk about how Seach and Social can truly go hand in hand to improve Search results.
Attendees can expect some great, practical tips to improve their social profiles and therefore, their findability.
We've found a great new spot to meet at - Elysian Fields in SODO by the Stadiums has offered us the use of their back room! Sweet! (this is the far back room, not the one with the fishtanks)
The purpose of the event is for us all to come together and share ideas on how to grow our businesses, exchange information and talk a little SEO. Welcome!
Attendees can expect to...
1) Listen to one of the top SEO's in the area present a topic in a relatively casual format to allow for questions and discussion based on an SEO topic.
2) Network with other like-minded business owners & professionals along with internet marketers who are interested in meeting new folks & sharing their knowledge.
3) Meet in a quieter space moving forward - we've found a great venue at Elysian Fields' back room.

Jan 02, 2012 That's a GREAT idea, David! We've actually talked about this many times. Can you organize this? I would be happy to drop by, if it is not at the time of the other event or on Thurs eve. (when I teach my interns)

Jan 09, 2012 Nice collection, Gregor! Do you need me to put together a few pdfs on PPC to add?
Madhu, that's great that you're coming! Be sure to pipe up with anything legal-ish to add! What happened to the idea of you speaking sometime, I wonder?
FYI to everyone - my Account Mgr Kitty has informed me that next month's meetup is on the 15th NOT the 14th! Apparently there's some sort of holiday Feb 14th that I forgot about....

Jan 12, 2012 Thank you Carl, and Thank you Tracey for last night's get-together. Elysian Fields is a FAR superior location for it, and I think it could be even better without the apparent mix-up on reservations. Tracey you did great in spite of what I perceived as a challenging crowd. Your knowledge about social media and the benefits from it very much match my own and are loaded with heaping helpings of common sense (as far as you are concerned. As for me...I'll let others judge). Here is a link to the article I mentioned from Inc. magazine: http://www.inc.com/news/articles/2010/10/consumers-more-likely-to-use-businesses-active-on-social-media.html It's very detailed and explains where the ROI really is for those who were asking that question last night. Jan 12, 2012 On the topic of ROI of social media, I'd recommend taking the time to watch this video of Gary Vaynerchuck presenting the keynote at the Inc 500 seminar in late 2011: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcqCAqZtedI (61 minutes)
He talks about ROI of social media and compares it to the "ROI of your mother." Here's a shorter video that includes the same analogy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-RxeuP2nXk (5 mins)
As a heads up, Gary swears a lot.

Jan 12, 2012 I appreciated the opportunity to hear Tracy talk about social media. Her Facebook business page actually makes sense.
Thanks Kane for the link to Gary's foul-mouthed tribute to his mom. Insightful and funny to boot.
Looking forward to the next round.

Jan 12, 2012 I jotted three pages of notes and tidbits. A very helpful, brain-stirring meet-up. Thanks, Carl and Tracey-with-an-E! Also, thanks, Kane, for the video links. Some great points made. I forwarded the links to a client.

Jan 12, 2012 Kane - Thanks for posting that video. I am very familiar with Gary V. and wanted to mention the ROI of mom - but couldn't find the words at the event.
Thanks for the great feedback - and I appreciate the information I learned about SEO in the process.
What a great group!

Jan 15, 2012 Thanks to everyone for attending & especially to Tracey for presenting on such an important subject! We're working on the video, Tracey. I encourage anyone with any "Searchal" questions to post them here. I have one: Has anyone come across any good posts explaining the effect of Google Plus's sudden appearance in search results upon SEO?
