Event description

How many times have you been at a networking event and had to describe your business in a minute? Do you stutter and stammer, hang your head, mumble unintelligibly, and eventually sit down humiliated, knowing you've failed miserably?

We've all been there. It's certainly not a high point in our business life. This "elevator speech" quickie business introduction is one of the most important tools in our business repertoire. We can network day and night and meet thousands of people, but it is wasted effort unless we master this technique. If we do not generate interest and attention--from our target market--each and every time we network, we are failing at the marketing strategy of networking.

This is a fun interactive “playshop” session. Participants will give their elevator speech at the beginning. Then, we will work, using the format in Suzi’s articles (Links provided at the bottom of listing) to create and craft a winning elevator speech. (Note: The more you prepare your elevator speech in advance, the better results you will get from the session.) Suzi will coach a few bold types on specific wordings and phrases as examples.

You will pair off in a version of “speed dating” to practice variations of your word choices with a succession of partners. One of the most valuable parts of the session is instantaneous feedback from an audience of your business peers. You can expect a lively interaction with other members of the audience as opposed to sitting and listening to a “lecture”.

At the end, you will give your elevator speech again and get audience feedback on the improvement.

Objectives of the “Playshop”

. Vastly improve your elevator speech.

. Network with as many people as you can in two hours.

. Practice your elevator speech and get live “real time” audience reaction.

. Learn what works and what doesn’t work from your audience.

Audience: Anyone with a business who is stumped about or wants to improve their elevator speech.

This really will be a LOT of fun. I hope you have time to read the articles and start working on improving your elevator speech BEFORE the event. The more you prepare in advance, the more you will get out of the event. People had a great time at the last one. Any questions?

Someone just pointed out to me that the address that automatically populated from Biznik when I put in the Mosaic Coffeehouse Den was incorrect. It should be 4401 2nd Ave NE, not NW...

Thanks SO MUCH for the information.

How are you going to fit that many people in the room at Mosaic?

There are always people who don't show up. The room can hold 45 (per Dan at Mosaic). I intend for us to be interacting a lot. It will work out....and be fun too.

That room holds so many people with plenty of room to spread out, break into groups, etc. It is really such a good venue because of the parking and the comfort of the surroundings. Anyway, Suzi is a master at what she is doing and I would take SRO only to hear what she has to say. This session contains so much valuable information all at once.

It will be a lot of fun....and I want it to be very interactive.

So sorry to cancel my RSVP at the last minute. I was looking forward to this! I've been experiencing some technical difficulties.

I will look for another event by you, Suzi, and keep my eyes out for you at Biznik events.

Thanks for hosting and I hope it went great!

Thanks Suzi for a really great program. I practiced my elevator speech all the way home. Although I didn't practice mine in front of the group, the feedback others gave helped me mentally hone mine during the class. I feel very comfortable with what I learned. Can't wait for the next one!

Hi Suzi, wow! What a great workshop. You did a great job. I was so into what everyone else had to say that I forgot about me. I would love to go to another one if you do this again. ~Nancy

Suzi ~ Thank you SO much for taking your time to put this wonderful seminar on! Everything was fantastic and I learned so, so much! I feel for the first time in ... ever actually ... that I can quickly tell someone what I do so that they'll understand it!

You're ideas were great and it was good to get the immediate feedback from the group as well. I'm looking forward to trying it out at my next event!

Suzi, Thank you so much for this seminar. I didn't have a chance to stand in front of the group, but listening to/helping others helped me to hone my own elevator speech. Now I'm eager to put it into practice and see the reaction I'll get. No longer will I lead with my position title, which rarely is clear to people anyways and therefore doesn't get their interest much...just confusion and no longer will I focus on all of the various pieces of what I do.
