Event description

Please Bring at least 20 business Cards.

The Telephone Game - Where a group of people stand in a circle and pass a message around by word of mouth. The hilarity of it is that at the end the message is way different than when it began.

As Small Business People the overwhelming vote for building or gathering new business is through word-of-mouth. If that is so then it is very important that your message is easily understood, and can be remembered by other people.

The telephone game - Networking Style - will illustrate to you how well is your message understood by others through immediate feedback. Will your message withstand traveling through three people and come back to you in one piece? Or will it illustrate to you why no one is being referred to your business.

By the end of this event, you will know what people understand about your business, and if it's what you want them to understand.

Please Bring at least 20 cards.

The Game:

  1. We will gather in groups of 3.

In the group we will introduce ourselves, pass out cards, and express what we need to help our business. Help the person you are about to be an Advocate for, ask them questions so that you can understand what they do in your own words.

Keep it short & Make it Clear.

  1. We will then break up the group and then meet someone new one-on-one.

Then we will present the cards of your Original 2. Explain who they are. (No need to talk about yourself you got 2 people doing that for you).

Trade your 2 cards with the other person.

  1. Repeat step 2 with someone else. Trade Cards.

  2. Now with your 2 new cards find the peoples cards that you possess and tell them who they are and what would help their business.

  3. We may repeat this a few times as time permits.

    Jacob! You most excellent man!

I am so glad to be in the facilitation of this most interesting event idea.

I am looking forward to experiencing

how well (or not well) people are communicating

the message they want others to hear.

This should be good testing grounds for people's business communication skills.

I am happy to see you doing this. I am amazed at how so many Bizniks give me their fancy card or elevator speech and then I still have no idea really of what they do ...

Amy! SPACE is Your space? I'm thrilled! Jacob was the one who said he wanted to use SPACE.

It sounded good to me to use it.

I didn't put the two ends together that it was a space in which you were involved. That's Beautiful. Even more confidence in the goodness of the space.

I am glad to see all the interesting and cool people that RSVP'd for this event.

I think Leila makes a hugely valid point.

So many times I have heard people's speeches and forgotten so quickly what they do. I forget who they are... not out of not liking them but because I didn't understand them.

My intention is that we all walk away from this event with good ideas on how to present ourselves with power.

This is just what we need both to help us communicate what we want and be very clear as to what our fellow Bizniker's are doing. What a fabulous plan. If I'm not able to make this one I'm certainly hoping this type of event will happen again. I've also heard a lot about this SPACE, can't wait to see it! yoga guide

I'm sorry to cancel on the day of your event. But I got whacked with a cold or hay fever at lunch and am feeling rotten.

I definitely want to be at your next event.

It was a very good meeting for me. I accomplished two things. I met some potential qigong students and was able to look how I can improve my elevator speach! Theqiman.com

This was an amazing event. There were 2 people in my group so my message traveled around thru two voices.

    • One came out basically correct. Even with a nice spin on it!
    • The other one came out way off.

For people who are working on getting their message across, clarifying their elevator pitch, seeing if others understand, etc., this event is AMAZING!

We LOVED having the Biznikers at SPACE and look forward to more B'nik events at SPACE in the future!

Thank you to our amazing hosts, Jacob and Sierra!
