Event description

The Biznik VIP event is known for the bump up in quality of the business networking. Join Biznik's star-studded cast of Supporting Members at one of Capitol Hill's finest new joints, The Saint, for an exclusive monthly event for Supporting Members only.

What is Supporting Membership?

Supporting Members of Biznik (marked with a gold star) have upgraded their membership level for $24/month. In addition to exclusive Supporting Member-only events like this one, Supporting Members receive all the enhanced profile features available to Active ($10) Members. Ultimately, Supporting Members benefit from premier visibility inside the Biznik community through increased SEO, and additional category listings.

What does this translate to? Our reports show that on average Supporting Members receive 26 times more traffic from Biznik.com to their own web sites than Basic (free) Members. And in addition to sorting higher on Biznik's directory pages, paying members appear higher on Google too! For searches on their name or keywords, 93 percent of Biznik's Supporting Member profiles are listed in the top 10 results on Google. And 60 percent are ranked #1. How we know this.

About the venue.

The Saint - a new place opened by Quentin Ertel, the same owner of the Havana Social Club (location of the recent Anti-Office Holiday Party) - is an intimate venue with a fabulous happy hour menu that has been extended to Bizniks until 8pm: five items on the menu are priced at $5 a piece.

Due to the size of the venue, we're limiting the first event at The Saint to 40 people.

I look forward to meeting some Biznik members from Seattle! I'll be in the group coming down from Bellingham. I see so many interesting people on the RSVP list. And of course, I always like being around our amazing founders, Dan and Lara. Cheers! Meredith Ann Murray, Realtor Bellingham, WA

Sorry I will miss you! (And the yummy appetizers!)

I have an opportunity to go chill at my folks condo in Port Ludlow, and after 3 floods and seven snows, I am SO ready for a break from Carnation (aka Narnia)! I'll catch you next month...

grr! Can't make it to this one, both kids and husband are sick... so I'm going to have to take a pass, despite the fact that I'll need a cocktail after today more than ever! Have a great time everyone, and I'll see you next time. :)

A nasty bug's keeping me in bed tonight. Thought I'd rally, but now I don't think it's wise. Sorry to miss everyone!

Um, just logged on to get my map to this event but now I'm a bit confused. Earlier today this event was listed as running from 6 to 8 and now it lists as from 5:45 to 6 and "attendance" has already been taken. Truth or bug?

  • Lara Feltin
Posted by Lara Feltin, Seattle, Washington | Jan 13, 2009

The event runs from 6 to 8. In order to quickly check each person's membership status, we're checking their name for a gold star and simply recording attendance as they arrive. In order to record attendance on the spot, we had to trigger the "record attendance" feature by changing the times of the event.

    Sorry for any confusion caused!

Thx Lara, I suspected you might be taking attendance on the spot, but I forgot about how an event has to "end" so that can be done. Guess I could have called the venue and asked around, but my head's been aching all day, and I flunk Problem Solving at such times :-( Hope you're feeling better soon, too.

We'll be sure to make sure there's a note at the top of the description next time, before we change the times without comment.

p.s. I'm not there - I'm writing this from bed.

Thanks for the great event, Dan. I heard several comments on the benefits of supporting membership and found the attendees very committed to being a good connection for others.

Not to mention that Joe Hage held our plate of nachos without burning his hands. He's amazing!

We missed you Lara and are wishing you well.

Thanks everyone for a lovely evening. It was a little crowded and I think a challenge for Jessica and Christian to stay on top of two entrances. How do you guys feel about doing next month's event back at Twist vs. another one here?

  • Lara Feltin
Posted by Lara Feltin, Seattle, Washington | Jan 13, 2009

Sorry I missed what sounds like a great event. Heard it was crowded and only 26 people of the 40-person limit made it. Seems like a different venue is going to be important. 40-50 people in the Havana Social Club (where we had the Biznik Holiday party) could be nice...

  • Allison Nelson
Posted by Allison Nelson, Seattle, Washington | Jan 13, 2009

I do think we just about maxed out the downstairs room, though it was a great event. Twist is a really nice venue, though the times I've been there they don't honor happy hour prices in the back room. I love Havana- especially on a weeknight when we'd have plenty of room. I appreciate you guys mixing it up. Thanks again for hosting!

I was in the Bellingham contingent and loved coming to the big city to meet other Biznikers! We are growing quickly here and hope some of you might check out our events and head norht. :-) I enjoyed meeting so many new and interesting people. Thanks, Dan. I missed seeing you Lara - I hope you feel better quickly.

I had a blast connecting. The venue was awesome but got too crowded. Havanas is great for a bigger crowd; like Twist as Allison suggested, just prices are a little high for happy hour in the back room.

Thanks everyone for a great time!

I was part of the Bellingham contingent also and I'm so glad we came! It did get a bit crowded, but the atmosphere was nice nonetheless, and the people were phenomenal! I love the connections I made. Looking forward to attending another Seattle event soon.

Although the tight quarters and loudness did make it difficult to carry on conversations, I still met some great folks with good biz potential...In a nutshell the people were great, but the venue was just too small. I like the place...if they could be persuaded to let us have the run of the whole place, it would probably be just about perfect. If not, I think you're right, it's new venue time.
