Event description
A workshop for the board, senior staff and senior volunteers.
A nonprofit must keep complete, current and accurate records. Board members have the responsibility to know what's going on with the 'books' - the revenue and the expenses. This means understanding the organization’s finances. Are you struggling with this aspect of your fiduciary responsibility? If so, then we have a workshop for you.
By the end of 2 1/2 hours, you will: • acquire an understanding of nonprofit accounting • discover multiple sources of revenue • be able to articulate your organization's budget • be aware of the treasurer’s roles and responsibilities • realize the importance of internal controls • know how to read financial statements • have an understanding of the 990 tax return • understand the type and timing of required filings
PRESENTERS: Two of the most respected accounting minds in the Puget Sound area, Cindy Doyle and Karen Dunn of the CLARK NUBER (CN) accounting firm and Joy Stephens, principle at o 2 joy. Between these three, there are 50+ years of nonprofit experience.
