Event description
What’s the biggest difference between your independent business and Starbucks or Boeing or Microsoft? In a word – people. Whatever is needed to run these big companies successfully, there are lots of people in lots of departments all coming to work to make that happen. In your business there’s only one of you.
You may be the “right person for the job” in terms of creating your product or performing a particular service you sell to the public, but are you trying to make that innovative part of you also do your accounting? And if your business is being an accountant, are you perhaps missing a business strategist and innovator? It’s so easy for “detail people” to deal with tasks as they appear in front of us and never get around to the big picture.
What about marketing? Does the part of you that performs a service for your clients (such as massage, or web design, or catering) have any talent at all for marketing? In fact, would you hire a massage therapist to do your marketing? For some of us it seems that our whole “inner marketing department” might just be missing.
Many of us as solopreneurs started out with a great idea, something we love to do and are good at. We’re surprised to see how many other skills we need to develop in order to run a business effectively. At this event we'll introduce you to a process called Voice Dialogue that makes it easy to get to know some of your inner selves and use them to better advantage in your business.
We'll start by introducing ourselves to each other - saying what we do and also who we suspect might be running our business. Which selves we focus on during our hour and a half together will depend on your particular interests and those of the whole group. We'll demonstrate what it's like to talk with these different selves, and give you some fun exercises for creating balance on your own. You’ll come away with new insight and tools for greater work/life balance, and new energy for you and your business.
Our presentation will run from 12:05 to 1:35 with networking time at the beginning and end. Want more time to network? Feel free to come early, get some lunch, and schmooze before we start.
Drawing! At the end of the event two participants will win a free Voice Dialogue session.
(Mosaic Coffeehouse serves soup and quiche as well as coffee and baked goods - they even have some gluten-free items :))

Julie and Shannon,
Welcome to you both. Voice Dialogue definitely sparks the imagination and often appeals to artists and to the artist in all of us. I'm guessing you'll both have fun with what we have to offer.
Closer to the time of the event I'll send out some focusing questions to the group. Meanwhile welcome to you both.

Hi Shannon,
You'll get a start in an hour and a half and most importantly some new tools and perspectives that can help get to clarity more easily on your own. I'm looking forward to meeting you Wednesday.

I'm working with a new client today on a crash-and- burn deadline. I'm very glad to have this client, but ARRRGGHHH! I will no longer RSVP for this event until I am ready to leave and actually attend.
So sorry, again!

That was a very interesting exercise and experience. I love the sense of the work you do and hope to explore this a bit more ~ maybe I'll even bring in my team to have sessions (or a group session???) with you two! Sorry to scoot out so quickly at the end ~ but we confirmed 3 new clients while I was there with you!

Hi Annie,
We've done some work before with business teams with great results. Let us know what you might have in mind, and one or both of us could come to you.

Wednesday's event was a real upper for me. It was my fist networking event in many years, and an excellent experience.
You two have inspired me to up my membership in Biznik, and of course, continue my own personal work in Voice Dialogue.
Folks who have not yet attended your monthly get together have a special treat in store for them.
Thanks for bringing Voice Dialogue to the forefront in this community organization.
