Event description

What’s the biggest difference between your independent business and Starbucks or Boeing or Microsoft? In a word – people. Whatever is needed to run these big companies successfully, there are lots of people in lots of departments all coming to work to make that happen. In your business there’s only one of you.

You may be the “right person for the job” in terms of creating your product or performing a particular service you sell to the public, but are you trying to make that innovative part of you also do your accounting? And if your business is being an accountant, are you perhaps missing a business strategist and innovator? It’s so easy for “detail people” to deal with tasks as they appear in front of us and never get around to the big picture.

What about marketing? Does the part of you that performs a service for your clients (such as massage, or web design, or catering) have any talent at all for marketing? In fact, would you hire a massage therapist to do your marketing? For some of us it seems that our whole “inner marketing department” might just be missing.

Many of us as solopreneurs started out with a great idea, something we love to do and are good at. We’re surprised to see how many other skills we need to develop in order to run a business effectively. At this event we'll introduce you to a process called Voice Dialogue that makes it easy to get to know some of your inner selves and use them to better advantage in your business.

We'll start by introducing ourselves to each other - saying what we do and also who we suspect might be running our business. Which selves we focus on during our hour and a half together will depend on your particular interests and those of the whole group. We'll demonstrate what it's like to talk with these different selves, and give you some fun exercises for creating balance on your own. You’ll come away with new insight and tools for greater work/life balance, and new energy for you and your business.

Our presentation will run from 12:05 to 1:35 with networking time at the beginning and end. Want more time to network? Feel free to come early, get some lunch, and schmooze before we start.

Drawing! At the end of the event two participants will win a free Voice Dialogue session.

Thank you so much for presenting this workshop. I wasn't sure if it would be appropriate for me to go just starting my business but I found it incredibly helpful. Your demonstration of the Voice work was very insightful. Cassandra and Miriam, you were both so warm and welcoming while maintaining the flow of the workshop and staying on task. Thank you!
