Hi, Christine - I thought I'd put my questions in the comments section, in case Judy or any other attendee also has these. 1) If we plan on migrating our existing website to WordPress (WP) during this session, do we need to transfer the domain hosting before hand? 2) What pieces do we need to have with us for the session, and in what format? e.g..... -- graphics files (like logo or header, images) -- text/content -in what form (Word, html, etc.) -- rough site map -- idea of the functionality we want (e.g. plug-in to take mailing list names, video, SlideShare, etc.) 3) What else should I think about in advance or bring with me? (other than my laptop!) Thanks, Christine!

This premium event is an in depth / hands on workshop to develop your own website and blog. For your WordPress website, you will be given a premium theme to choose from, worth $79, as well as installation of the latest release of WordPress, free web hosting, email and FTP access. Effectively, you will learn how to develop a professional website and blog for $140 and the expertise to continue to maintain it. You will have free web hosting for life and automatic updates for both WordPress and the Premium Themes.
This workshop also shows you how to integrate your WordPress website and blog with the latest social media technologies such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
Each attendee receives all the tools and plugins required to maintain their website and blog as well as a premium WordPress 3.0 compatible theme and free web hosting.
Note: You will need to bring your own WiFi enabled laptop to the workshop. These premium workshops are held in the conference room of The Executive Support Center - 14900 Interurban Avenue South Suite 271 Tukwila 98168.
All you need to know about maintaining your site will be included as well as access to all of our favorite plugins, links and widgets. You will learn the difference between Posts and Pages, where to use them and how maintain them. You will learn to incorporate graphics, videos, pictures, ecommerce and external content. You will learn search engine optimization techniques and how to incorporate statistics and analysis into your site.

If you have a wordpress site already you can work on that instead of the class site. If you don't have a wordpress website, I can create that for you or you can use a development site. I would need full details of your site before hand if you wanted to be working on your site.
WordPress is ready to take content and images in most formats but you should optimize pictures/graphics before hand and upload as jpgs or gifs. Most cameras now take very high resolution images which are too big for the average screen so your images should be resized before uploading to a wordpress site. I would suggest most images shouldn't be larger than 800 pixels wide.
Topics such as plugins, slideshows, galleries, contact forms, social media and video are all covered in the class.
