Hi, Christine - I thought I'd put my questions in the comments section, in case Judy or any other attendee also has these. 1) If we plan on migrating our existing website to WordPress (WP) during this session, do we need to transfer the domain hosting before hand? 2) What pieces do we need to have with us for the session, and in what format? e.g..... -- graphics files (like logo or header, images) -- text/content -in what form (Word, html, etc.) -- rough site map -- idea of the functionality we want (e.g. plug-in to take mailing list names, video, SlideShare, etc.) 3) What else should I think about in advance or bring with me? (other than my laptop!) Thanks, Christine!

Nov 30, 2010 During the class I create a website with everyone's help on my own domain. If you have a wordpress site already you can work on that instead of the class site. If you don't have a wordpress website, I can create that for you or you can use a development site. I would need full details of your site before hand if you wanted to be working on your site.
WordPress is ready to take content and images in most formats but you should optimize pictures/graphics before hand and upload as jpgs or gifs. Most cameras now take very high resolution images which are too big for the average screen so your images should be resized before uploading to a wordpress site. I would suggest most images shouldn't be larger than 800 pixels wide.
Topics such as plugins, slideshows, galleries, contact forms, social media and video are all covered in the class.

Posted by Linda Williams, Bellevue, Washington |Nov 30, 2010 Thanks, Christine. What exactly are the "full details of your site" that you'd need before hand? I realize we may be too late on this round, but it would be useful to know.
