Event description

Have you considered giving workshops as part of your business, or perhaps giving them to promote your business?

Would you like to give workshops, but aren't sure where to start?

Or perhaps you've started, but would like to learn more?

Then come join today's class and get started on your next workshop!

We'll discuss:

  • Four criteria for choosing a workshop topic

  • What to include in your workshop template

  • The difference between workshops, lectures, seminars, and mastermind groups

  • How to find workshop participants to get started

  • The "Guinea Pig" workshop (also known as the "reverse Field of Dreams" workshop...)

  • Hi Tech vs. Low Tech presentations (the pros and cons)

  • Hand-outs and materials

  • To charge or not to charge? The real question you must ask...

  • Selecting the venue

  • Ten simple ways to promote your workshop for free

We'll start with introductions about 6:15, with general networking (and food ordering) prior. Let us know who you are, what you do, and what your workshop topic is (or will be).

Kate Phillips has developed and led workshops professionally with Total Wealth Coaching for 4 years (and has been taking workshops and personal development courses much longer than that!)

With prior experience training in the restaurant and real estate fields, Kate is now best-known for her 10-week course, Living in Abundance: Love Your Money, Love Yourself (for women only!) She is a certified Trainer (Peak Potentials) and holistic Life Coach (Coach Training Alliance) who enjoys working with solopreneurs and creative professionals.

Come by 6pm to order food at the GreenBean (they'll be closing the kitchen as soon as our orders are in). They have wonderful food such as panini sandwiches, soup, baked goods, and fair-trade espresso. Support our hosts!

Hi Kate, I'd love to attend "Workshops 101: How to Get Started Giving Workshops" , however, the commute from San Francisco is a killer! Any chance you will be audio/video taping this event? Or perhaps a teleclass in the near future? (Count me in as your first SALE on this product/event!) Clearly, you've struck a positive cord with this topic. Looking forward to hearing from you. Hi Mary, That's an interesting idea! I'm open to any local volunteers who would like to video tape it. (Anyone?)

A shorter version of it could work as a teleseminar. I'd miss some of the interaction/activities designed to work live, but there is a lot of information which would translate just fine.

I'm planning a full-day Intensive, covering many MORE topics related to seminars and workshops. You've just given me an idea for an "information product"... packaging it all together, at least the parts that translate.

Let me cogitate on that... I've got a couple other projects ahead in line, but I think I could swing a teleseminar in a few weeks. If anyone is interested in this, message me with your email. (But if you're local, it's no replacement for Workshops 101 "live"!)

I also will offer this one more time at Mosaic, I've just hit a hitch with a potential date and have to go back to the drawing board... but probably the end of March it will resurface there.

Hey Kate - Just wanted to say that I'm looking forward to this workshop. I've done quite a few, but always looking for fresh ways and more tools. Can't wait (and am so jazzed that I nabbed a spot)!

If anyone was "following" this event to get in, there is a new Workshops 101 event posted now for Thursday, March 26th, 10am at Mosaic Coffeehouse. This may be the last time I teach this event for free... so don't miss it!

After this, it will expanded into a half-day program for a reasonable fee. I am also developing a full-day program with Joe Shirley which will cover further aspects of how to be effective using workshops and seminars in your business. Just send me your email if you'd like information on further "worskhop" events.
