Subscribe to Indie Biz Q&A Blogs into Blogs

I'm new to blogging; have created a couple of my own and am reading and commenting. But I can't figure how how to reference a blog in my blog. If I want to write a blog post that says, "Hey I read this really cool idea from this guy Dick... here it is!" -- how do I do that? It seems most blogs allow me to "Digg it" or to e-mail it -- but that's not what I'm trying to do; I'm trying to link it into my own blog posting. Can you help a neophyte?

Also, when I read a blog I want to subscribe too, I want to add it to my bloglines -- but most blogs don't have a direct link to bloglines, so I find myself copying and pasting the URL into my bloglines account. Isn't there any easier way?

Finally, is there a way to spellcheck when the feature isn't offered ... like commenting right here at BizNik?

1- referencing a blog in a blog. If you run wordpress there are several plugins that allow for easy to linking to the other site. Otherwise you are using a standard HTML link. You can increase readership by using a trackback comment on the site you are pointing at (if the other site has a trackback field, which is usually in the comment area)

2- BlogLines - you should download the bloglines browser toolbar- Bloglines Toolbar Subscriber

It will auto-detect most RSS feeds and subscribe it to your account.

3- Spellcheck. Download the Google toolbar and it has a spellcheck feature. Google Toolbar with Spellcheck

Spellcheck: Firefox now has a spellcheck feature that displays misspelled words with a red dotted underline. Right click (PC) or Ctrl click (Mac) on the underlined word and you get a context-sensitive menu with suggested alternatives.

It's great for blogs and forums.

What are you using to blog? Are you using a web-based blog, such as Blogger or Wordpress.com?

Or are you hosting your blog?

I'm using Blogger to blog, and I'm using bloglines as my reader.

This forum is unmoderated, but please keep discussion courteous and not too far off topic.
