Subscribe to Indie Biz Q&A Do REAL men use......lotion???

My company caters mostly to women.... although we do have a collection that is great for men also(Umoja) as it is unisex in fragrance (soap/cream).

In order to have more 'man stuff' Im in the process of developing another collection that will be scented specifically for men (no frilly froo froo scents here)....

Soap is a definate but Im in a quandry whether to add lotion or not.... My husband loves the creams in the Umoja collection but I dont see him very often using lotion...

is lotion not a manly thing? is a smaller (2 oz.) cream better? does it depend on the scent? does it depend on the packaging (the more manly the better????) do men have no interest in anything other than soap?

I have no problem just offering soap (will be three of them) but if men really do use lotion or even cream then maybe I should offer that too?

I'm always looking for something to put on my face so it's not all flaky in dry weather. Right now I use a Lush massage bar that my wife gave me.

I usually stay away from "manly" scents because they're too strong. I like a light scent and don't want my food or coffee obscured by the stuff on my face or hands.

I like grapefruit or citrus stuff.

I also know a lot of guys who look for this stuff but wouldn't say it out loud. They would probably rather rub Cheetos on themselves than say they use lotion.

Hey - maybe a light Cheeto scent? ;)

I don't abide by any 'man' law :) but the only time I tend to use lotion is when I need it. Here in the Pacific Northwest, I find the air wet enough that I don't dry out, so I don't tend to think to use lotion.

Occasionally, for a few weeks during the winter it gets cold and dry enough that I need to use a chapstick and hand lotion- I've used shea butter formulas quite happily, and I tend to like the scent of lavender.

And, when we visited Santa Fe recently I used lotion pretty much nonstop, it was so cold and dry with the altitude.

I do love scented soaps- they are one of lifes small luxuries, and we indulge in them quite happily.
